Imagine if no takers for Myers in a trade and he ends up playing the full season with the canucks, then resigning in the off season for 2-2.5m a year.
What about Raty on the third line?
Canucks showed some restraint and still managed to go over the salary cap. I completely agree about the Vancouver's addiction with overpaying depth players and expecting them to play beyond their ability.
Flat cap kept most of the GMs sober
Not sure the Bleuger signing makes a ton of sense for the money.
None of these names make up for the future buyout cap hit. Sad day. Hopefully Soucy doesn't turn into Stillman or Poolman
OEL will be playing well on a good team, just like he was good when the canucks were winning and pushing for something. He phoned it in when the shtshow happened last season. bad feeling the buyout will turn into a huge mistake

Path to the playoffs is bad oilers goaltending, flames floundering. But the Central will be good (nash getting better) and might take both spots.
Finally impressed with the Canuck management. They made some legit moves, didn't create any bad contracts and definitely improved the D and the PK. Well done guys!
Hoping for the canucks to become instant contenders like Sekeres and Price seem to complain about is exactly the wrong way to build the organization. Canucks just did enough incremental tinkering to nudge the team forward. Add in a management and coaching staff on the same page and a willingness to hold the players accountable to playing team defense and this team will show a nice surge in the standings. Don't expect a contender until they accumulate enough nudges to create the right conditions to win.
This is a big meh for me, I agree they need to spend 6 on 1 guy instead of 3 on 2. I also agree that the 6 mil guy was not available at this time. So the last thing van should have done was take on term above 2 million. In year 3 of Soucy's contract, if he doesn't play at a top 4 level, you are getting a 3rd pairing dman for as much as OEL used to cost. This is why I just did not think the buyout for OEL was the play this year. There was not good enough replacements so you have to dig in 1 more year. Van is running out of years but they have 0 years if they just keep spending to the cap, never giving themselves breathing room to wait for the proper pieces.
Blueger is going to impress just wait
