Rockets fan here: very nice draft by the Mavs. Shedding a lot of money was key. Still think my Rockets won the draft, but I’m sure I’m being a little biased.
They don’t have 24 million in cap space? Where are you getting that from? They are way over the cap. They will have the full MLE if they don’t sign Kyrie to the max or trade another contract out.
People are going to be calling Prosper the steal of the draft at the end of this next season. He's never played with players like Kyrie and Luka. He's gonna show out this season if Kidd gives him decent playing time.
I love Jerami Grant and Cam Johnson or if we can get Grant Willams. Brown is a long shot I think he resigns with Denver. And Darkhorse if we lose out on all of them is KJ Martin. also bring in Dillon Brooks on the cheap just off of his fearless Bulldog on D mentality alone. I suspect multiple moves here in the next wk or 2. I could easily see THJ, Bullock and Mcgee being shown out of town.
Imo Mavs are not championship caliber yet with rookies. I’m not hating on Luka (he can go god mode and carry you a lot)or the franchise either it’s all respect to the Mavs and Mark Cuban, but rookies don’t win you chips.
i'd have j kidd on the shortest leash possible if im cuban. If he doesnt play those rookies enough and his rotations are terrible, get a new coach immediately. Nets did it with JV replacing Nash and it proved wonders for them.

Mavericks need to trade Kyrie or just let him walk. better value if they trade for a PG from a team that has too many. for instance, why not trade 2 future 2nd round picks for Cole Anthony from Magic, he is a restricted FA next year, so can get him now, get him under a contract sooner, and a ball handler to take off pressure from Luka.
I watched some Lively's highlight reels. All dunks off of pick n rolls and put backs. Prosper will be the better player. He can do it all. Hit threes. On ball defend all positions. Drive to the hoop with the ball. Run fast breaks.
