I was wrong about Poehling, I thought he’d put it together by now. But yeah this trade was solid for us.

People have kind of been on Hughes about his draft picks but I’ve LOVED his trades, and his hires (keep in mind not firing guys that were already there that you don’t like is not equal to a hire). I’m skeptical about the drafts but it’s too early to tell either way so I’m not gonna dwell on it too hard.
On the bright side, even if those drafts don’t age well I trust him to reevaluate the scouting staff and make changes whereas Bergevin would let fires burn for years before making any changes.

Great trade, but Poehling will have absolutely no issues finding a contract as a 4th line C or even winger. He’s decent enough.

Never really understood that trade from the Pens perspective. But I’ll take it lol. The only real difference between the two is that Petry is a righty, but I felt they were very similar players in terms of ability and impact. However Matheson was not only younger, but cheaper.
