I was fortunate enough to meet Reilly Smith at a meet & greet over at the Valley Auto Mall last summer, and while it was short, the conversation I had with him, which ironically enough was about how happy I was about him re-signing with us, displayed to me how much of a good person Reilly is, and how much he cares for this community.
Now that he got traded yesterday, I can only speculate as to what his emotions are, but I can promise you I’m definitely shaken by the move, though at the same time fully understanding of why it was done. It truly is a difficult decision that the McGMs had to make for the future success of the Stanley Cup Champs, but it truly is beginning to feel like an era is coming to an end with Reilly now off to Pittsburgh. I appreciate the hell out of Reilly for everything he did for this team, his presence in this city for the last 6 years, and am beyond thrilled for him that he not only was able to be apart of a Stanley Cup Championship roster, but that it was HIM who scored the goal that clinched the Stanley Cup victory!
Reilly Smith, Smith family, if you’re reading this, thank you for absolutely everything. I hear the B4V is still happening and that you will be the VGK captain in that event, so you better believe I’m gonna be going to that and cheering you & the boys on, but when you & your family return to Vegas with the Penguins on January 20, 2024, you will be greeted with a thunderous roar of applause and cheering from us VGK faithful, and when you retire from playing, that nameplate of yours will be going into the Vegas Golden Knights **HALL. OF. FAME.**
Take care, Stanley Cup Champion Reilly Smith, and may good luck and good fortunes be on your side for the remainder of eternity!

Fascinating how non-super athlete hockey players look like. All them at parade without shirts. Almost ordinary looking. Cool memory.
