Penguins have engaged with Flames about defenseman Noah Hanifin. View him as potential partner for Kris Letang with top pairing. They’ll have to get creative to make a deal, as they’re one of many suitors — but probably one with fewest assets to offer. #NHLDraft

  1. What the hell do we even have that the Flames would want? POJ and Pickering?

Fucking christ. We need a goaltender first. Use the assets to nab Hellebuyck

This is basically a redo at the Chychrun trade and I hope we’re not scared to pony up real assets (however few we may have) to get it done.

Should cost less than Chycrun obviously since he is only signed for 1 year instead of two but we shouldn’t be scared to be offering a 1st and/or 2nd here.

It’s become clear Mike Sullivan thinks another young, efficient, and dynamic LHD is a huge priority for him, and a huge piece of what he’s been missing these last few years. I hope we give him that. Hextall obviously didn’t.

We’re actually a really good fit for both Hanfin and even Devon Toews if they’re coming at a discount/rental asset price.

Their current cap hits fits perfectly onto the roster this year, and then when the extension kicks in next year you just give them Carter’s cap hit and boom top pairing defenseman for years to come. Love the dubas vision

This is from Rob Rossi. It means absolutely nothing until reported by someone with a small modicum of journalistic integrity.

If this were to happen I wonder what the plan is? Do they plan on shipping out one of the LHD on the roster to make room? I really wouldn’t want to give up POJ or Smith but he’d be a substantial upgrade to where you gotta do whatever to make it happen

Rossi is full of shit. If they were gonna do a deal, the Pens wouldn’t have used their first round pick.

I don’t see his price being very high anyways. 1 year left, made it obvious he’s not staying in Calgary. That said, it’s Rob Rossi so who knows what the reality is

We’ll have to get rid of someone along with a draft pick or prospect

Does he gobble up minutes like Ironman Letang?
