No fucking way. I’d be over the moon with Kostin. Guy has grade A effort.

    Edit: OFFICIAL. FUCK YES YZERMAN.

Edit 2: Oilers fans are saying Kostin is heading back to the KHL

    Gonna miss you Future Considerations.

Don’t see why we’d want Yamamoto but if it’s free sure why not.

Oh shit, didn’t think that would be a future considerations trade but that’s what happens when you need cap space I guess

    Oilers fan/writer here.

Yamamoto is one of the shorter players in the league, but he plays like he’s 6’3. Always hard on the forecheck, always gives his 100%.

He also has some skill in there, and is a solid middle six.

Klim Kostin is a big body, sparkplug guy. Has a good shot, works his ass off.

Both guys will slot in nicely on Detroit.

Edit: I also like Detroit too, I used to write for Red Wings Nation!

I liked Kostin’s game these past playoffs. Works for me.

Yamamoto, Zadina and insert pick for DeBrincat?

We love collecting middling forwards, that’s for sure.

  9. As someone who lives in Edmonton and has watched these guys extensively, let me give my input:

The Wings fleeced them. Yamo is quite short but provides good energy and can score sometimes, and Kostin is a great sparkplug who can throw some large hits and score decently well. Both are great bottom/middle 6 options, and they’re cheap as well. This is a great trade for the Wings, and it’s honestly baffling how Holland gave them up for nothing.

For those of you who believe in analytics, KY was a positive player on offense and defense at even strength. He’s also a very good penalty killer. He’s gonna make us better at 5v5.

Kostin is a good offensive bottom 6er. His defensive game is average or slightly below. Doesn’t really play special teams at all.

Lmfao so we got two first round picks for future considerations? Stevey at least give them a 7th dear lord

Both guys are only 24 so they still have room to get better. All the team needs to provide them is a little ice time.

Yzerman acquires another former St. Louis Blue haha

If Kostin stays state side I think he could be a good fit for the wings.

Hopefully Yamamomo starts to hit the net but he also brings some good for checking skills. Disappears in the playoffs but we wont have to worry about that part so much right now

Looks like some decent replacements for Suter and Chiasson.

Red Wings: Get 2 NHL players

    Oilers: Sack of magic beans

    Cool cool I like it

My favorite part of the off-season is watching Stevie cook

I live in edmonton, wings are my #2.

Kostin was well-loved in his short time here. took shots at our terrible local media on day 1. he’s a total grinder, big body, workhorse, physical, can find the back of the net when he needs to. seems like a good dude who is well-liked in the locker room. the rumour is he might go home to play in the K, I hope he puts on the wings sweater next year instead.

Yamo gets mixed reviews. also seems to be a good locker room guy. he has had stretches of phenomenal play when surrounded by the right line mates – just before the pandemic happened, YAMO-DRAI-NUGE was a dominant line. Yams just seems snake bitten at times. lots of instances of getting great set ups from McD and not being able to finish. he’s a tenacious forechecker and plays way bigger than he is, buuuut he’s undersized and can get bullied off the puck.

IMO, tons of upside here and in exchange for future considerations, hard to complain. I hope both of these guys do well here.

Amazing how much it matters as a GM to have friends. I mean, I just don’t see this happening without the relationship between Yz and Holland. Same with some of the deals with Saint Louis. Does this happen in other sports? Do GMs prefer to take hits and give favors to friends (with the expectation perhaps that they will one day be returned). My sense is that it doesn’t but tell me I’m wrong. This is a whole new level of future considerations.
