  1. As long as this player is healthy the pick will be worth it. Outside of the usual late 1st rounder who falls and everyone in hindsight claims they should have picked.

  2. Nothing to complain about here. Nucks desperately need defenceman and right shot dmen are always in high demand. He has good size with room to fill out, smooth skating as most swedes are. I like it. Not the swagger of the higher picks but just what Van needed

  3. Still canโ€™t believe despite having a weak prospect pool, we trade a 1st and 2nd. God.

  4. Oof passing up on Benson is interesting. Time will tell but despite his size I can't see a world where Willander has more NHL success than Benson.

  5. Iโ€™m very happy about the Willander pick. I love his interviews. Kids a stud. And RD is incredibly valuable on trade market. Much more than a small top 6 winger.

  6. I doubt he ever plays a game for the Canucks. Since the Canucks will be fighting JTmillers aging curve and the OEL buyout penalty, raises to Petey and Hronek, the team needs to win well before he will leave Boston University for the League

If management hopes to make a serious cup run with this core they will need to trade him before heโ€™s an NHL regular. In that sense, an rhd is a good choice because in his d+1 year he will likely have decent trade value which is when the Canucks will need to convert him into a top 4 defencemen.

  7. All the silly talk about Simachev available at 25 made me chuckle. Some of these guys need to retire and Maybe some guys in this comment section could do their jobs equally well…
Anyway if Simachev was not going to be available at 11 I really wanted them to go for skill and take Benson but I'm reasonably happy with Willander who knows maybe he can surprise me and be better than I think.

  8. Completely ๐Ÿ˜ข lost faith in this used-car salesman. P. "Best Swede Available" Allvin. 5 hours ago, he said, "BPA", with a straight face. BENSON was available, and he passed. Polite response: deceitful.

  9. Glad you two noted Alvin's lack of fanfare, his going straight to the pick. (I thought it odd, yet not unwelcome, since everyone coming to the podium simply parroted the same perfunctory acknowledgements.) The boys on 650, however, never said a word about it. They too went straight to the pick. Cheers.

  10. My two choices Reinbacher & Simashev were gone..
Needed to draft Defense. Now we play the waiting game.
Hopefully Yzerman didn't get the better Swede in Sandin Pelikka.. With a pick Vancouver should've kept in the first place!

  11. A tad of a letdown considering we missed Davorski by one pick and passed on Benson and also considering Detroit took Sandin-Pellika with our pick from the Islanders. Not super excited about this. Not saying Willander is a bad pick though. Right shot D with size high level of competitiveness, and can skate are hard to find.
