Scott Laughton recorded his first career NHL hat trick against the Washington Capitals on February 7, 2021. He scored in each period in the Flyers 7-4 win. This was the third hatty of the season by a Flyer, the others from Konecny and Farabee. They are the only NHL team with multiple hat tricks this year.
Washington’s Alex Ovechkin contributed on all 4 of his team’s goals, but the Flyers still came away victorious. Carter Hart stopped 33 shots, and Sean Couturier posted 3 points, including the game winning goal early in the 3rd, in his first game back from injury. With the win, the Flyers stayed ahead of the capitals in the East division, moving to 18 points, tied for 2nd best in the league.
