  1. Two things I wanna say (as an Oilers fan).

First, obviously it's okay that McDavid didn't get a unanimous Hart win. I think the issue is that this particular Penguins reporter put him at 5th, and has done similar things in the past. He left both McDavid and Matthews off his hart ballot for two years before this one, which really makes it seem like a grudge against star players who aren't Crosby to me. At the very least, it just seems contrarian.

Second, a yamo buy-out would, in my opinion, be a huge disaster and speaks to Holland's inability to sign a value contract. I can't believe there isn't a single team out there that wouldn't be willing to take on abit of a high cap hit for a player that CAN play well for one year. I know the price to move him may be high, but the price of not moving him may be higher. I don't really understand how Holland can think that the strategy for this summer should be to stand pat and not make some improving moves (esp. on RD *ahem*Ceci*).

Curious to know what you all think!

  2. I don't think its not about it being unanimous if he felt someone else was more deserving but 5th or not listed at all makes me wonder if he should have the credentials. The same happens in the NBA where the contracts are impacted by all nba team voting. They are eligible for more money so if a sports writer has a grudge or forgets someone which has happened that is not just a minor thing.

  3. Players are remembered for the Cups they win not individual awards.

So the schedule has been released, the awards were given out😴 & the draft is tonight. So weird that the SC rings haven't been seen or even talked about.

  4. Man if we don’t resign Swayman it’s a dang joke and Sweeney/Neeley will lose their jobs and eff us for the next 5 years!

  5. Saying sharangovich is a hard working player means you haven’t watched him play that much. It’s just not true.

  6. If I was a Rangers fan, I’d be livid. They really went from a promising future to the laughingstock of the NHL thanks to James Dolan.

And as a Ducks fan, I feel sorry for their fans. They deserve so much better than that disgusting excuse of a human being. The fact that he hasn’t been forced out or banned for life by the NBA or NHL yet is a travesty.

  7. Toffoli doesn't need to match last year. He is going to a team with a lot of young talent that is on the rise and is definitely in the conversation for the Cup next year.

  8. Is this like a longer rental fo the Devils?
we have 15 signed roster players and 19 mil cap space. Timo Meier (at least 8.5m) is not singed, we need 2 D man and resign McLeod And Bastian (AND Mercer next year…)
Tyler is a great player but unless we trade Palat we can't afford to keep him beyond 23-24

  9. Getting Karlsson at 50% of his cap hit would be a massive steal. I really don't see why San Jose would retain more than 40% max.

  10. If a teams retains salary, do they retain the same amount of cap for the player or is the entire cap sent to the new team?

  11. Imagine how much attention (clicks/views) that journalist will get when his name gets called out?! Career spike or career suicide?!

  12. Thank you for pointing out that the non-unanimous vote has been blown up too much. No one is required to vote any which way for the Hart, and McDavid isn’t losing out on anything by not being a unanimous winner. You can not understand the vote, but that doesn’t make it illegitimate.

  13. Do teams have to offer players a fixed cash amount? For example could they offer a player an 8 year deal paying 10% of the salary cap?

  14. Oilers will regret not signing Kostin. Dude was literally a half of bottom six scoring, not to mention the fights and physicality

  15. you mean Toffoli who plays on world championship in 4th line??? yeah deal of the year… Keep Tatar and you won't get to the play offs 🙂

  16. I feel like the flames could’ve gotten more at the deadline from a team looking to contend, maybe a first round pick, but still decent return getting a guy who scored 24 in the league and is only 25.

  17. Why Vancouver didn't re-sign Toffoli, who played well, was turning into a veteran star, by all accounts liked being there, and had great chemistry with the team, when they still could, to this day remains a bewildering postulation. Yet another Benning brain-freeze.

  18. I'm very excited for the Devils season. I'm normally a Sharks/Rangers fan, but even with them being mortal enemies the NJ roster is too damn exciting. I can't wait to watch them this season.

  19. Tom Fitzgerald not even considered for GM of the Year, insane. What's not insane though is the award voting guy. Everybody hates a homer, especially a Bruins homer, fuck that guy, I hope they dox him so we know it's Jack Edwards rofl

  20. Man I liked Toffoli in Vancouver, he’ll do well in NJ . There must be some cancer in Calgary to be scaring the players away !! . Unfortunately Canada’s cup drought will continue for the foreseeable future .

  21. Would it make sense for the Capitals to trade Evgeny Kuznetsov and the #8 pick to get the #4 pick (presumably Matvei Michkov) from San Jose? Perhaps with extra picks moving around on either side?

  22. LA, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, now New Jersey. If he plays long enough Tyler Toffoli could be the 21st century version of Mike Sillinger/Olli Jokinen.

  23. I’m shocked that Edmonton isn’t making Kostin a priority resign. They found a diamond in the rough there. Klim Shady!!

  24. There’s no way Karlsson is going to be as bad as he was during his first couple seasons in SanJose, but there’s no way he’s ever going to have another season like he just had either. You’re going to get something in between with him, and at his age I’m passing on wasting assets to bring him in, especially if SanJose isn’t eating most of the cap hit.

  25. I know it's not a big deal but I still want this Pittsburgh guy killed Tkachuk 4th McDavid 5th lmao

  26. Bringing in Toffoli was one of the best deals Treliving made. I love that guy. He never quits on his team, no matter who he is playing with or for.

I'm very sad to see him go, but he could be great for NJ. And this does help the Flames get a little younger, which they do need to do, though I'm still not overly pumped about this trade.

We'll see what Connie can get done this off-season.
