PHILADELPHIA FLYERS TRADE TONY DEANGELO BACK TO THE CAROLINA HURRICANES
#nhl #nhl23 Tony Deangelo is back with Carolina. Flyers are also in talks with St Louis Blues about a potential Kevin Hayes, Travis Sanheim and Torey Krug deal.
Getting him was a bad move by Chuck Fletcher in the first place. Gave the Canes 2 draft picks & signed Tony to a big contract. He did most of his scoring as the Power Play quarterback. Terrible at 5-on-5 or in penalty kill situations. Never really meshed his pairing with Provolov on the 1st D-pair. Defensively a liability with too many turnovers & dumb penalties. Wore out his relationship with Coach Tortorella resulting with several benchings & healthy scratches.
Rumor says that Philly is retaining 50% of his cap hit making this an absolute steal for the canes. DeAngalo did well in the canes system and stayed out of trouble as well for the most part I see him being a replacement to Shane Gostisbehere as he will slid in great with chatfield on the line. Despite all the Pesce trade rumors, I do think we will eventually find cap for him as he has stated he doesn’t want to leave Raleig. Also most recently rumors made it seem as we are getting close to an extension as well
