To the best of my knowledge Pre-season games are just money for owners. I don't think players get their 50% to go to escrow (or their pay). That's why there are 8 games. They'd do 24 if they could get away with it.
Only time I see the Oilers in Vancouver is in preseason. I have never seen McDavid, but that's my chance at least. To me, the never-ending regular season, which means very little because it's not 8v1 in the playoffs, is the worst schedule error. I expect the pre season to be lower quality hockey (but good for the price), but reg season hockey is consciously or unconsciously played at a 7/10 level – perhaps because it's too long to do otherwise. It's gruelling, and a little boring to wait through 8200 games before the season you really care about. The lockout season of about 55(?) was good! I enjoyed that.

Heated ? I’m not, I just don’t like being stuck with 4 homes that mean nothing as season holder
