Barbashev hit on Duclair plus retaliation

Ivan Barbashev nailed Anthony Duclair with a clean check during Game Two of the Stanley Cup Final, for which Duclair immediately went after Barbashev and crosschecked him down. Duclair received a minor penalty for crosschecking as well as a 10 minute misconduct. Barbashev rightly got nothing.

  1. Very poor assesment. Barbashev jumps for the contact and embellishes after crosscheck. Had he made clearer head concatct with the jumping hti, would 100% have got suspension.

  2. Pretty much sums up the SCF for the Panthers so far. The only thing the Panthers have done well is embarrass themselves with their sad tough guy routine.

  3. Not sure what we’re reviewing here. I don’t like that Barbashev leaves his feet before the contact but the league let’s most players slide on this so that feels not picky. Calling the cross check also feels like not picking as that slides a lot as well. I saw some saying that Barbashev embellished but he was already half way off balance when Duclair takes a shot at him. If anything give them 2 mins each but the league really needs to get better at enforcing rules against leaving your feet and aiming up high like that.
