Anything less than 5 years for Mathews is a loss for Toronto. He is taking the leafs to the cleaners.

If Samsonov is getting 4+ you're better off trading him for assets and then trying to use more assets to trade for a true #1 like Saros, Hart or Hellebuyck?

Muzzin almost certainly on LTIR again, so that's roughly 15M of cap room & assuming at worst, Murray is a buy-out, another 4M bumping the cap room along with the 1M NHL increase to 20M. I'm confident that Treliving will be able to improve the roster with that amount of space, either through UFA's or a trade(s). He likes big D with snarl, so it's possible he lands one, or possibly two of those, plus a top 6 LW with some bite & bottom six guys that will make them more difficult to play against, especially in the post-season. I wish that they'd resign Schenn, Acciari & Kampf who were all solid reliable playoff performers. July 1st is only 10 days out, so we'll see what happens relatively soon.
