  1. I always wondered if Malkin had started his career in 2005-06 season with Mario his last season!. Three headed monster crosby/Malki/Lemieux…..:).

  2. When he is healthy they win cups. I think he was maybe 70% in the 07-08 finals and Sid was just to young or he could have had another cup. 40 13 and 5 always had their A games against them it seemed like.

  3. You must have loved making this video, as Malkin has gotta be one of your fav players. You talk about him often.
I get it, my fav player is Steve Yzerman. Johnathan Toews. I love the Selke type superstar forward. If I could lace 'em up, it's the style I'd wanna play at.

  4. Ovi and Malkin are close but goals are more important that assists and Ovi is the greatest goal scorer of all time. They don't play the same position as well so makes it hard to compare. Centers win faceoffs but Ovi scores on the power play like the sun comes up every morning

  5. He hasn’t played a full year in so long. Fantastic point per game player who unfortunately only plays 65-70 games a year.

  6. 1st ballot HOF'er. Even with the injuries and being in Crosby's shadow, he has the hardware, championships, and points to get in on the first go around in my opinion.

  7. At the moment he is playing one of his worst seasons. Points are there, but other than that his game looks very bad compared to what it used to be. He has to pick it up if Pens want to win something this year. Awesome player and definitely underrated! One of my favourites 🙂

  8. If malkin didn’t have crosby, he would absolutely be no where near 1000 points.

  9. Malkin always had a chip on his shoulder. Early on he found out he wasn't the best at the draft and lost to Ovi. Than he found out he was not the best on the team due to Sid. He'll be know as a great scorer but always second best…

  10. Malkin is one of a kind and an excellent player and I think the whole team appreciates him being around and he is one of the stars of the league, and would be no matter where he played. A big personality, too.

  11. If not for Malkins injuries we could've maybe seen both him and Ovi getting 1200 tonight.

Metalurg tricked Malkin into signing a one year contact in 05-06. Saying if he did they'd let him leave to the NHL after.
When that year was up they pressured him again, even came into his home and wouldn't leave until he signed another contract.
They had his passport too, and wouldn't give it back until after be signed.
After Malkin finally agreed to sign he called Pittsburgh for help in getting out of there.

  12. funny how the year he plays the most games since his entry level deal is the year ryan reaves was on the team.
and they say there is no room for the enforcer in todays nhl. i would love to see malkin and crosbys point totals if they had some protection out there throughout the years

  13. I remember being frustrated all my childhood by the fact that I had no opportunity to see how Super Mario and Jagr played back then and were winning the Cups in the 90s… At that time there were no NHL streams on the TV in my country, and internet was so slow that even download of short 5min music video was taking weeks and weeks… So all I could do is just watch small recaps on the news and play EA's NHL'96 with friends…

And now I feel blessed to watch real-time feeds of Pittsburgh's games to see with my own eyes how the new generation of Pens talent take over the game, with Malkin and Crosby leading the way just like Mario and Jaromir did back then in the 90s! It definitely feels like one of my childhood dreams coming true ^_^
I don't want to argue who is better: Geno or Sid. In my eyes, they are equally talented, just like Lemieux and Jagr were, and they all possess unique skillset and excel in different aspects of the game. I'm just so happy to see both of them in my favorite Pens uniform, and watch them bring the Cup home! Keep on going, Geno and Sid!

  14. 1000 points, 900 penalty minutes. That is around 250 more than Crosby in fewer games played. I loved watching Malkin get pissed off and go into beast mode, but sometimes he just starts taking stupid penalties. My favorite play from him was breakaway where he did a big wind up slapshot for a goal.

  15. When he's good: he's as good as Crosby. When he's bad, it's a dumpster fire! One of a kind player.

  16. If he doesnt play again this year until the playoffs he will have missed 187 regular season games, or 220 points if his career average was consistent over the games he missed. Wow! Now off to calculate Crosby's totals.

  17. Why is it that the Pens get all these generational superstar players and then they all end up on injury reserve for much of the time? Jagr is probably the exception, but Lemieux, Crosby, Malkin – all at the very top skill-wise in their respective time period, and all three have had big problems with health and injuries. Don't remember another team having had that many GOAT candidates missing so many games. Any thoughts? Just a coincidence?

  18. The fact he has 1000 is already amazing considering he's the second option to Crosby but what's really amazing is that he did it in less then 900 games thats legendary. He should'a been on the top 100 over toews, kane and Keith also iggy should been there too. One of the goats 🐐

  19. I feel Peter Forsberg is a great comparison, a lethal player with the puck, does not like to give it up, and both their careers would be all the more amazing if not for injuries
