It’s also impressive that the Yotes sold out every single game last season, considering the base ticket prices.
Of course, try explaining to r/hockey that selling out doesn’t mean there’s a butt in every seat, and they’ll throw a tantrum.
The wildest part is how much of an indictment this is on Glendale, and to a degree former ownership groups for winding up stuck out there with unfavourable terms. Given the context of our tiny-ass barn with this dogshit team and tickets at completely unfavourable price points, this outcome shouldn’t have been possible and yet here we are.
It makes Tempe residents look like complete morons for choosing mulch over a goose that was this golden in the most adverse possible circumstances. It makes the chuds on r/hockey who are like “Why Butmenn persist with daddying shit dog team?” look stupid because this is clear evidence as to exactly why he is.
I still think we’re in very serious trouble, but it’s nice to have an unequivocally positive data point for once that implies that we’ve got some potential to earn if we can get some things right. And, that’s something that ownership can shop to other cities that are less stupid than Tempe.
