Jeff Paterson stops by to talk about the OE-L buyout and shopping priorities. Do they still need to trade a winger? Is the biggest need a third-line centre or top-4 defenceman? Will they still explore a JT Miller trade?

The most desperate organization in the NHL makes yet another desperate move. Yeah, fine, in a vacuum it is the right move. But, how many times have they made desperation moves that look decent because they turn a disaster into merely a bad situation. They have gone from 5 years of Loui to 10 years of OEL, or, put another way, 15 years of Benning. Anyway, good job…I guess.
This Canucks team is lacking any kind of direction.
3:27 Which would you rather have? $5 million representing a player that isn't on the team, or a healthy player that DOESN'T have a +/- that mirrored 2020-21 Quinn Hughes? That spot can be taken by someone younger, healthier and faster.
People are creating drama just to create drama. Ah right, and it's Monday.
short-term gain for long-term pain
It would be cool to get Schenn back and some how pick up Hanifin from Calgary. 26 years old. I thought he was close to OEL in age. Seems like he has been around longer. Maybe Rathbone would be the sweetener in that trade. Beauvillier or Garland?
Yzerman bought out Lecavalier in Tampa. It was really good for them.
It's only a "five-million-dollar player" if OEL were playing well. Otherwise, he's in the press box for seven million. Which means that they would have to find a player to replace him — without the 2.5 million they get from the buyout. In other words, the five million would have been gone anyway, so Paterson is putting it the wrong way around. Where's the logic?
I have the hope that we'll really like Hronek I really want to have that trade be successful for us but we have to remember that we wouldnt be in such a bind had we not made that trade.
Management will do something 'Canuck' like and use this money to sign Lucic to a 4 x 5 million dollar contract ๐
Hirose doesn't have to be a point-producer, but the guy can obviously make a pass, c'mon. Looks pretty mobile, too.
It was the right move. I just hope they make good decisions with the cap space.
Lol Jimbo clearly didn't understand how to weaponize cap space.
