With the Detroit Red Wings loss against the Carolina Hurricanes last night, they have officially clinched a top four draft pick in the upcoming 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In this video, we’ll discuss four players who the Red Wings would be able to take, and why I’d like them for the team.
The draft is stacked with guys like Alexis Lafrenière at the top, with Quinton Byfield, Tim Stützle, Lucas Raymond, Alexander Holtz, Jamie Drysdale, Marco Rossi, Cole Perfetti, Jake Sanderson, and Yaroslav Askarov rounding out the top 10. I realy hope somehow byfield goes to montreal we NEED big forwards we never have any good ones we alwyas have beem considered like a small team
I’ve bounced around a bit on this… I wasn’t a Lafreniere fan after watching his international play the past 4 years but this year he’s improved in my books, and I do think he’ll be a good choice… That said, my first choice is absolutely Marco Rossi right now. Detroit is in desperate need of a playmaking center. Larkin is the only center we have who can create any offense- this seems to be why they’re trying Fabbri at center some. Of the centers available, I think Rossi is the most dynamic and seems to have the most complete skill set. He’s smaller, but the NHL is moving to smaller, less physical, faster play, so that’s not a concern.
I would be okay with Byfield I think, but not over Rossi. He skates really well for a bigger guy so I’m not as concerned with him as I was with taking Rasmussen, and passes really well- potentially could be a Joe Thornton type. Stutzle looks very similar in a lot of ways in playing style to Rossi, but he tends to force plays looking for 1 pass goals which leads to some giveaways. Plus I would rather he spent some time in the CHL if I was going to take him on Detroit.
I’d love if we could somehow swing a second 1st rounder and get Jake Sanderson as well, but that won’t happen. His instincts are great though on both sides of the puck- he takes chances but they’re usually smart decisions and he always gets back in position quick. Someone will be getting him as a steal in my opinion if he goes with his projected ranking at around 13.

Yzerman was many times in Mannheim. I think he would take Stützle on #2 over Byfield.

It would be kinda cool if Ottawa got first and second. The odds of that are probably pretty crazy. But it is also pretty crazy that they might have 2 top 5 picks
I also think it would be cool if holz and Raymond end up in Ottawa.
I’m no Ottawa fan but there draft situation is so interesting. Detroit and Ottawa could honestly change so much from just this draft.
If the Wings down get top 2 picks I promise you they will be picking up that goalie. Mark my words and take it to the bank.

If we draw first pick I bet Steve trades Ottawa for both their picks , Ottawa gets their golden boy(Lafraniere) and we Take Byfield and Stutzle. Or Byfield and Drysdale, or Stutzle and Askarov or Stutzle and Drysdale. Either way I see to big of an ego and issues with contracts when he blows up(Lafraniere) Stutzle and Byfield's attitude are right up Steve Yzermans alley. Alexi Will want to be Captain right away where ever he lands. How's that going to go down in Detroit? It's not…Period. Ottawa needs a good over paid captain.
Wings need a 2C. If they don't get 1st overall, Byfield or Rossi should be the pick. Stutzle is not a C at the NHL level and isnt any better than the centers available at the top of the draft.
Better draft RAYMOND. Gonna be a stud and best in this draft class. You read it hear first!

I think Stutzle is high on the list if the Red Wings do not get the #1 overall. Now the rumor mill gearing up saying Yzerman covets Stutzle over Byfield and even possibly Lafreniere .
Drysdale is the pick if Detroit bottoms out and ends up selecting at #4.

I could see a scenario where Detroit selects Tim Stüzle 2nd in the draft. Honestly, I'm excited about adding any of the top 4 or 5 players in the draft into the Red Wings prospect system! This is a really promising year.
Just an observation about your channel. You have a ton of really good information and you make several good points on what teams should do BUT I would not take you serious because of the NHL19 or NHL20 game playing on the screen. You want to be taken seriously, put real pics and real video of the players up on the screen. I will never take a video seriously when that game crap is running on the screen because it looks like you are talking about the game and not hockey. Again, just my opinion and observation.
