How would you feel if the Habs selected David Reinbacher 5th Overall?
Reinbacher is better than Ryan McDonagh was at the same age. I would be inclined to consider him or Dvorsky, a few rows down. With a prospect like Reinbacher Montreal would have the potential to build one of the best group of defensemen in the league. But if we consider that Bedard and Fantilli are padlocked 1 and 2, then one of these three prospects will be available: Carlsson, Smith or Michkov. CBJ seems inclined to choose a center (Smith or Carlsson) which leaves one of the two and Michkov for SJS and MTL. If Bobrov, Lapointe and Hughes really want Michkov then make an offer to SJS or CBJ to move forward. Staying 5th is most likely, but the option of falling back to 9th or 10th (Detroit or St. Louis) to get a second first round pick is also possible. The situation is intriguing, Wow!

If they reach for Reinbacher they should be fired. Maybe with Florida's pick but not 5th overall. There are 5 blue chip propects before a drop off. Whoever of those 5 falls into the Habs lap is who they should pick, whether that's Smith, Carlson or Mishkov.
