  1. The buyout penalty is not worth it. We need to spend every penny we have (And apparently 13million extra over the cap) to win the cup!

  2. I keep looking at Chicago as an option to move Granlund to. Like maybe package him plus the first round pick to Chicago for Jason Dickinson or Colin Blackwell. Or you could even go straight up salary swap for Tyler Johnson and he's on his final year of his contract at $5 million. He had 32 points in 56 games last year. Like you need bottom six guys and those 3 fit that bill. Also one free agent not a lot of people are talking about I really think could be a good chance is Connor Brown. He signed with the capitals but tore his ACL, and he could be a guy that previously has shown lots of good stats and the penguins are a team in good spot to take a one year flyer on a guy like that.

  3. 28 of 64 of Granlund's points were on the PP. He won't get PP1 here unless injuries are ghastly. He was also the benefactor of outlier seasons from Josi, Duchene and Forsberg.
I don't think you need to retain in a trade, but the asset you give up to unload his full cap hit will be considerable.

Need to correct something too. If they were to buyout, his cap hit would be 833K this upcoming year, not 1.8M as mentioned. That 1.8M would only apply to the following 3 seasons.
I don't want them to go down that route regardless. I think he can be completely off-loaded for like a 2nd + 4th or something equivalent to that.
