Why can’t the Leafs ever get competent management??
If they allow Matthews,Marner and Nylander to walk for nothing I’ll be done with this team! It’s been a long 35 years for me
bring them back but significantly change supporting caste by bring in some big bodies trade the little guys they have in the system

Trade Schenn to Calgary and make him the Captain.
Matthews is the one that needs to be traded if you can't get get him re-signed before July 1. This is a Johnny Gaudreau situation. Paying him 11.8M and not buy 3 more UFA years was one of the worst contract signings in recent history and may have screwed the Leafs. But trade him now and give a US based team at least 1 year of him and you still get a decent return. A sign and trade you set up the team for now and into the future and free up cap space. Don't forget much of his goal scoring comes from good Marner passes and plays, he isn't worst the more than 12M you will have to pay even if he can get signed.
Toronto is supposed to be the best they support there players they are a classy organization Bill tripe the leave their coach hanging in the balance he deserves better than that he to has a family he needs to know the future as well stop playing games make up your mind not very classy actually quite mean in my opinion
Man! Kyle did an absolutely $hit job on these contracts!! All overpaid, all have NMC, and won nothing. The Marner contact is just ridiculous; now Reilly is making 8.5, and Willy will want 9; it makes me sad, I find it harder and harder to cheer for this team.
My initial contract extension offer to Marner and Matthews is a pay cut, a reduction in pay, let’s say a 10% slap in the chops shall we?

I am in the mindset if Matthews wants a MAX 3-4 year deal and doesn't want to take a discount to win, then you trade him. Matthews is not worth 15 mil. 12.5 mil yes. The only one that matters is Matthews. Second to me would be marner because he is one of the top utilities players in the league BUT if he wants Matthews money (which I think he will) then drop him like a hot potato. Nylander at 9m is all he is worth as a 87 point winger who can not play any defence.

The coach has had like 5 years and nothing to show for come playoffs. Time for him to go. The Leafs have to restock with picks/prospects on top of the overwhelming task of so many free agents to sign as well as dealing with extensions.
