The Arizona Coyotes desperately needed the Tempe proposal to pass. It was the best chance they had at securing a permanent foothold in the area, but the voters chose otherwise: They rejected the proposal convincingly. It’s a crushing blow in a long series of them in the area, by combination of terrible ownership, poor decisions, and some bad luck.

Now back to square one, the Coyotes are the lightning rod of the league: Fans across America are frustrated with how long of a leash they’ve been given, and the NHL somehow still thinks this franchise has a chance in Arizona.

Does it? I don’t believe so, but I’ve been wrong before. I’m still frustrated though.

  1. Such a shame, the dedicated fans deserve so much better than just having the best logo in the NHL.

  2. Here's the crazy thing: If there are no Coyotes, does Austin Matthews ever play in the NHL? I think no, he plays baseball or football instead…

  3. I'll still never forget that random playoff run they went on to the west finals with Mike Smith standing on his head, when they lost to the Kings it really seemed like they knew that was their only chance at anything.

  4. I hear rumors about repurposing an old abandoned shopping mall in Mesa, AZ for a new area but it's just rumors at this point

  5. Honestly, despite my dislike of the Coyotes organization (and their Glendale stadium), I still somewhat enjoyed going to their games and I do think that Arizona should absolutely have a Hockey team. I just don't know if the Coyotes should really continue to be that. Ideally the Yotes would move somewhere else and we'd get something different

  6. no team should go through that many owners in that many years, this is the main problem horrible ownership, and thats on the nhl for approving all those bad owners also why keep the team in Arizona its not working move it to okc or somewhere that will be able to make fans and money

  7. I could see them coming to KC. We were in line to get the Penguins before Pittsburgh got their shit together. We have a place for them to play already and KC is a massive sports town. I am a Knights fan so they would become the first KC team I root against.

  8. The question is, where would the Coyotes move? Houston? Even then that doesnt seem too feasible with the Astros success right now. Id rather just contract the franchise for now.

  9. “Congrats Vegas/NHL” to cap the NHL 2022-23 season

“Congrats Nuggets” to cap being the 2nd ABA team to win NBA Title

And… yup… we need an update on Antonio Brown. This time how he made an Arena Football League team collapse in on itself

  10. As one of the dozens of highly devoted Yotes fans, I’d love for them to stay in Arizona. But at this point, I just don’t know if there’s any real way of making that happen. It sucks, but I just don’t think it will work out.

  11. You gotta feel terrible for Arizona sometimes given how long they've been fighting off the Californication infestation.
