Im glad to see Benning be more firm with his negotiations. If Edler isnt willing to come back at a significant pay cut, we can find a new, younger and faster defenseman for cheaper.
The team needs to get younger and with Myers eating $6 mil against the cap and your top 2 young players to resign, there’s just no room, even if they bury Eriksson in the minors and buy out a player or 2. I’d still pursue Hamonic though on a reasonable cap hit. He’s a good defensive d man. He’s probably a number 5 if I’m being honest, but he’s still an important guy to have at the moment on this team at the right price. Let’s hope Seattle does us a favour and takes one of our hefty contracts off our hands. But they’ll probably screw us and take Jonah the Manchild, a potential middle 6 20 goal scorer in the NHL and PP net presence.
