It would be a good deal and the real reason is…we have too many prospects. Time to move some as we have waaayyy too many 3rd 4th line players.
We soon will have difficulty staying under 50 nhl contract rules.

Moving up in the NHL draft really does not make much sense. Let’s look at another sport… THE NFL moving up is very common in the NFL BECAUSE players are more mature at 21. Whereas players are drafted into the NHL often at 17 years old… this is ludicrous. The NHL places children or sorry talented Boys In a league versus grown men
When drafting these boys there is so much development to be done mentally physically and emotionally that the NHL draft is a crapshoot moving up is a very imprecise science regardless of draft depth
Yes there are exceptions but players at 17 are generally very undeveloped…. As opposed to the NFL WHERE PLAYERS DRAFTED CAN STEP up and perform immediately
Fans over value prospects and that is why such a large portion of 1st round NHL DRAFTEES never step foot in the NHL as compared to first Rounders in the NFL.
MOVING UP in the NHL must be a very calculated shrewd move and Generally accompanied by pulling assets from the salivating trade partner.
If the Habs want to move up they should package other unproven assets….like Mesar Kidney

The only reason to move up is to get pick 1 or 2. Everyone seems to be living in bizarro world. Bedard Michkov and Fantilli will go top 3. What do the Habs need most? 2nd line center. Carlsson or Smith will fall to the habs. I believe the Sharks take Smith. Carlsson is the best center beside Bedard or Fantilli. Habs get the right guy. Cheers.
If we trade a pick it will be the Florida pick to move up or aquire a young nhl player. Cheers

I still say we need to draft Will Smith. we do not need to move up as we will get Smith at our pick. hopefully Bettman's refs will call the game fairly and don't over penalize Florida like they have been doing….I am a Habs fan but the officiating even in the finals suck badly

I haven’t kept up with the habs as much as i used too but i’m gonna be glued to them these next few seasons, I can’t wait to see where this team goes after these last two seasons

I would love the HABS to move up and pull off a few trades including getting Hart. However, I will be satisfied if the team is stronger this coming year…I am still wondering if Wright wasn’t a better long term choice and I really hope Slaf makes me forget about Wright this coming year.

nice video coach i wish i want them to move up in the draft but when is the last time did a team move uo from 5h to lets say 3 or 4th to 2th very rare or did it ever happen in history not sure
I also think it would be a good strategy to move up a bit. You can trade the late first round and early second. And, you can add players from the AHL that are not keepers for the long term plan
I feel like the Jackets are going to be more interested in using Boqvist or Peeke as part of a trade package to get a top 6C. They've already got a very solid prospect pool and a plethora of young players on their roster so I don't see the value in trading either player for multiple, less valuable parts. If the Habs want either of them then I think they'd have to get in on a 3-way trade that has them getting either player and sending assets along with Columbus to a third team that gets the Jackets the top 6C they badly need.
