Scott is back from a busy weekend at the NHL Draft Combine in Buffalo, New York and there is a ton to talk about. Scott gives his overall reaction to the testing on Saturday, and also the connections between many of the top players in this upcoming draft class. Players like Andrew Cristall gushing about Connor Bedard, or the trio of USNTDP players at the top of the class all have plenty to say about each other.
Also based off the interviews from the week, what are the Canadiens going to do at fifth overall in the NHL Draft? It’s still cloudy, but Scott does his best to try and read between the lines to see what Kent Hughes and the Canadiens might be up to when they take the stage in Nashville.
Speaking of the Canadiens, when interviews and testing wrapped up on Saturday one thing was very clear, the Montreal Canadiens are very much in the hunt for a goalie in this upcoming draft. Scott spoke with Michael Hrabal, Adam Gajan, and Trey Augustine over the weekend, each of whom had a long talk with the Canadiens during the week. Pls pls pls get Michkov. Canadiens can go about their business knowing that in 3 yearrs their investment will double. Why settle for star when a generational superstar is attainable? Why do the Habs have to settle for a 30 goal scorer when a 50+ goal scorer is available? If MTL chooses the safe route, Washington will happily eat our lunches, and snack on the dessert we should have had.
If Ryan Leonard is available and Montreal doesn't take him, it will biggest regret they missed out on tkachuk. They need a Ryan Leonard.. michkov won't fit
You are right about the goalie corps. We will see if Vincent Riendeau and the scouts involved can make the right choice at the right time about drafting a great goalie. I’m not worried about goaltending. Just look at Vegas, you need a good team to have a good goalie. 😊 + Dobes is already there at 6’5’’ and athletic in the ahl 😅. Also, habs are always drafting a goalie in every draft. My guts tell me that if michkov is available at 5, they are gonna draft him. Btw last time San Jose drafted a Russian player was in 2019. I trust Bobrov on this one. Go habs go
