  1. Just also remember they played on a bad wings team and on 1st line and 1st pair so they are making big time impact. That is really impressive

  2. Seider, Raymond, Edvinson, Cossa..Yzerman is doing pretty well with his first rounders, two elite D man and franchise goalie. And I have a feeling that all those guys are made for playoffs

  3. I disagree with no one else being able to take a top 2 spot from one of these guys. Byram has basically had the exact same PPG rate as Seider but with more goals and the nhl tends to value goal scoring over assist. Also no one can really use the Avs are a good team excuse since they have been really bad so far but Byram has been prob their best defensemen on the team so far and if the team starts to pick it up that could increase his point totals. I think it’s actually closer than a lot of people think between them regardless they both have been looking like absolute studs. Realistically I see Raymond winning if he keeps up his PPG pace.

  4. I'm from the future, the wings beat the knights and you guessed it…. Raymond scores!

  5. If Raymond seider finish 1 and 2, if it’s voted on purely by point race then Raymond but if it’s voted on other factors and biggest impact then I think seider would take it

  6. yzerman sure knows how to hone in on talent. remember the seider was a reach taken at six in '19 draft talk? And even tho wings were dropped at '20 draft once again yzerman seems to have picked the right fw from a plethora of forwards available. Then let them season overseas a little bit then they are ready. Unlike holland's draft mistake high picks now departed shev, and cholowoski, rasmussen, zadina, (yes it is looking that way for latter two), and lazy mantha. Now wings need the top end c to complete the re-build. Too bad they are playing themselves out of the shane wright sweepstakes. And gotta love those guelph guys bert, suter, and fabbri…'14 ohl champs.

  7. I literally didn't think Raymond or Seider would be in the hunt for this at any point before the season started. Raymond was only half a point a game in the SHL last season. Seider's assist generation is well above what he's shown before as well. It's nuts the steps they've taken. Now, I'm wanting to see Ned pick it up and be the third best rookie too.

  8. Lots of hockey yet to be played. These guys could still struggle. But so far, I am super impressed with the Wings rookies. If these guys play this way all season, the Wings DO have a legit shot to make the playoffs. And… there are so many more quality prospects in the SHL and AHL that the future is bright for the Wings.

  9. legit question: can it be a split/shared award? i'm not sure if that's been done before for the calder, but seeing how they did it for the vezina last season, not impossible right?

  10. wings haven't had a roy since roger crozier '64-'65. federov should have won over belfour in '90-'91. Yzerman lost out to the rare tom barasso double-roy and vezina trophy season in '83-'84.

  11. When you watch these two players, they both do way more than just put up points. They're so good at playing responsibly. They play the 200ft game, and doing it well. Yeah, they take their licks and get turned inside out while defending on occasion, but they go right back out there and learn from it and put themselves in better position next time. The points are important, but it's equally impressive what they're doing when they don't have the puck.
