2023 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Predictions

2023 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Predictions, Who will win the Stanley Cup?

The 2023 Stanley Cup Finals will be the championship series of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) 2022–23 season and the culmination of the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs.

The series will be contested between the Eastern Conference champion Florida Panthers and the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights.

This will be the first Finals series since 2018, which the Golden Knights also played in, in which neither team has previously won the Stanley Cup and the first to have two teams from the Sun Belt since 2020.

For the first time since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Finals runs through the first weeks of June: the series is scheduled to begin on June 3, and will conclude no later than June 19.

This will be the second Finals appearance for the Panthers. Their only previous appearance was in 1996, which Florida lost in a four-game sweep to the Colorado Avalanche.

During the offseason, former Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice was hired as the Panthers head coach. The Panthers made a large offseason acquisition, trading Jonathan Huberdeau, who led the team in points the previous year, along with MacKenzie Weegar to the Calgary Flames for Matthew Tkachuk.

Tkachuk led the team in points this year with 109. Through free agency, the team acquired forwards Nick Cousins, Colin White, and Eric Staal, defenceman, and brother to Eric, Marc Staal, and goaltender Alex Lyon. The team also opted to re-sign forward Eetu Luostarinen and goaltender Spencer Knight. Midway through the regular season, the team claimed defenceman Casey Fitzgerald off of waivers.

The Panthers finished with a 42–32–8 record, grabbing the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference with 92 points. The Panthers mounted a 3–1 series comeback against the record-setting, Presidents’ Trophy-winning Boston Bruins in the First Round, defeating them in a seventh game overtime. They then eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs in five games during the Second Round and the Carolina Hurricanes in a four-game sweep in the Eastern Conference Final. The Panthers are the fourth eighth seed to reach the Finals, following the Edmonton Oilers in 2006, the Los Angeles Kings in 2012, and the Nashville Predators in 2017.

This will be Vegas’s second Finals appearance. Their only previous appearance was in 2018, during their inaugural season, which they lost to the Washington Capitals in five games.

During the offseason, the Golden Knights fired head coach Peter DeBoer and hired former Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy to be their head coach. They also acquired goaltender Adin Hill in a trade, re-signed Brett Howden, Reilly Smith, Keegan Kolesar, and Nicolas Roy, and also signed Phil Kessel during free agency. During the season, the Golden Knights traded for forwards Ivan Barbashev and Teddy Blueger, and at the trade deadline, the team acquired goaltender Jonathan Quick who was flipped by the Columbus Blue Jackets from the Los Angeles Kings.

The Golden Knights finished first in the Pacific Division and the Western Conference with 111 points via a 51–22–9 record. Vegas defeated the Winnipeg Jets in five games during the First Round, triumphed over the Edmonton Oilers during the Second Round in six games, and knocked off the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final in six games.

  1. Good vid! As a knights fan I believe this will be a good series, hopefully both teams play good

  2. i dont really care about either team but either would be a cool win since they haven't won before. esp Florida even though I care even less about the panthers

  3. I think Vegas will take in 4. Your talking about Florida getting lucky to get in the playoffs and every team underestimated them as an easy team to beat. But now you've gone to the big dogs who clearly battled and rightfully so are the #1 seed. They are hot and home advantage. They let one slip away be sure this go around they're gonna kill it.

  4. All I know is Hill has 2 shut outs ,they are at the most of times high scoring team . Knights of the round table in 6

  5. “Vegas has at least 20 players on their team that has at least 10 points in the playoffs” lost me there bro, stop rambling to make the vid longer and speak facts…

  6. Florida forwards the 3rd line is a sneaky line who will score on you if you let your guard down and the 4th line is a workhorse line that makes other teams lines life hell and they'll grind out a goal here and there

  7. Vegas is the better team, but the Panthers are on an otherworldly run, hockey's a streaky game, goaltending, scoring, it's streaky in every aspect except one, heart and determination of the players, all finals are 50/50 obviously, but this feels different, Florida could finish the underdog, Cinderella story but I think Vegas puts an end to their fairytale but I wouldn't bet on it.

  8. This Panthers Team has to be one of the most amazing playoff performing teams I've ever seen. Winning just seems to make them stronger, and when they fell behind in a series against the "best NHL team ever" they rallied. VGK has some of the same, but I just don't see how this team can lose. I think Vegas will only win if they can have a bunch of high scoring games, and they don't let Floridia gain momentum (consecutive wins, win Game 1, scoring first, etc). The series should be very good.

  9. Your overall commentary makes me chuckle. Other than KT, being the number one guy on the ice, and Vegas has Eichel, the rest are at best for Florida are a wash. Yet if you look down the line, Vegas's forwards play better D-fense and their ENTIRE team scores. They have BIG and mbile defensemen, and when you look at the size of most of Vegas's forwards compared to the Dmen on Florida, they are bigger. And Vegas's forwards are bigger than the Florida D. And yes Barkov is really good, but is he so much better than Stone, or Stevenson, or Marsechault? Then we go to goalies. Your right, Bob was incredible, but by the time they play he will have sat out 9 days or so. It will be interesting how long it takes him to get back up to game speed. I would look at the Conference Final like this. Who was better? Carolina, missing Svchnikov, Paccioretty, and Terovinen with a messed up hand, with Raanta or Anderson, or Dallas with Been for 4, Robertson, Faksa, Domi, Hintz, and Ottenger in net?

  10. Eichel may not have many goals, but his play has been far from bad, defensively and offensively… vegas' strength is that they dont need to rely on one or two guys, somebody always steps up

  11. Bobrovski has been unreal and Tkachuk was living a dream against Carolina.

But depth kills in the playoffs and VGK have guys who won't even dress who would be an upgrade somewhere in the lineup for Florida.

Florida needs to play perfect. VGK needs to play their game.

EDM already proved that insane production from your top lines and an NHL history best special teams will only win you 2 games against Vegas.

    VGK in 5.

  12. When the VGK goes to FLA Live Arena, they will be subjected to the ROAR sound effects, All that the VGK need to do is to find their INNER KATY PERRY and EMBRACED IT like you have KATY PERRY working in LAS VEGAS anyway.😉😉😜😜😁😁😍😍
