Respectfully I think that a lot of people are over reacting to this news. I personally thought Paul Maurice was a bad hire for the Panthers earlier in the season because of his results with the jets. Turns out the jets are a putrid team. I thought Babcock wasn’t an elite coach because of his results with the leafs. The leafs are a putrid group of players as well. Most of the people that are a part of the Toronto organization end up being tortured while they are there by the media and flourishing elsewhere wether that be players, coaches or front office employees. Toronto always slanders their former employees on the way out look what they are doing to Dubas right now. It would be silly to think that this much time removed from the game that Babcock hasn’t been thinking of ways to adapt to the current NHL in terms of tactics and establishing personal relationships with the players because he is a former Jack Adams winner & has a reputation to rectify. I think he is a coach that can have an instant impact & at the end of the day our season will only improve because of how bad we were last year. This is a coach who can inject structure into the team that it so desperately needs. Keep up the great work!

I'm of the mindset that is choosing to be optimistic on Babcock as coach. Also of the mindset that he won't be abusive to his players, people can change and hopefully this coach understands that. And when it comes to the fans not liking this, the way I see it, u would've had people who would hate it if any of the others who were being looked at was named coach. Half the shit I was seeing on Twitter was people complaining that every option sucked ass one way or another. With that all said tho, this could be jarmos ass if this season is failed.
This is a very polarizing hire no doubt. The reports from former players about how Babcock treated them allegedly are concerning. However, hopefully if true he has dialed it back and adjusted because his resume of success as a coach is very very good win loss wise.
I think this hiring could work out. I get why people are skeptical but I still do prefer this over an in house hire again or an even more controversial one like Quenneville.
We shall see.
