This all makes COMPLETE sense now

Well well well, after days of refreshing my Twitter feed hoping to see Kyle Dubas to Pittsburgh, it finally happened! Kyle Dubas is coming to the Penguins, but not as GM, but as the new President of Hockey Operations.

With not only Ron Hextall getting fired but also Brian Burke, it left a wide open hole in Pittsburgh that fits Dubas to a tee. With FSG looking for young, competitive and analytical management, that is exactly what they got in Dubas. It’s about as perfect of a fit as you will find so they’ve given him the keys to the organization and in todays NHL hockey video, I cover why.

  1. Pittsburgh will improve a lot just for getting rid of Brian Burke. Excellent move by the ownership.

  2. As a penguins fan, I love seeing the rest of the league get some confidence into the pens… Dubas is amazing, he introduced culture, got younger players, and was fairly successful overall… Interested in seeing what lies in Pitt!

  3. Revenge of the nerd….does this fraud even know how to skate ???
He should be filling water bottles and picking up pucks after practice. lol

  4. Dubas is to Hockey what the pro wrestling equivalent of Ted Turner and Eric Bischoff in WCW circa the late 90s was: overpaying a few big guys in NWO (the clique) while ignoring the mudshow undercarders they bought for pennies on the dollar from the indies, Japan and Mexico. and look how that turned out.

  5. 2faced,bailed on leafs, got his chance there and bailed,2faced.Good riddens to him. Will be fired in Pittsburg in good time.

  6. I hope he does well with the Pens. As a lifelong fan (since the 80s), I want every person that they bring in, to succeed.
Yeah, under him, the Leafs found their way into salary cap hell, but how much of that was "the Shanaplan"? Have heard hints that the Tavares signing was Brendan's idea, not Kyle's. Hopefully, now that he has more control, and will be acting as GM until he decides whether, or not, he needs to hire one, he'll make some moves to clear up some cap space and get the team to win another Cup.

  7. Was a great move, dubas built a really good team leaf’s got stymied by bobrovsky and sad to see dubas go but happy Sid is gonna get one last chance to win cause dubas is not going to rebuild

  8. I’m glad Pens fans can see why Dubas is valuable. Sometimes people just can’t see past their leafs hatred, it runs DEEP 😂

  9. dude as a pens fan, this was such a breath of fresh air to see!!!!!! so so excited for this new chapter of our team!! let's get the core one more!!!!

  10. Here's Dubas's idea of the perfect team…Pay 4 guys all the money…Fill out the rest of the roster with waiver wire league minimum guys that nobody else wants…Have no grit whatsoever…And sign as many 5 foot tall guys as you can find…Ya…what genius…lol

  11. Wow, when he was in Toronto he was shittiest gm in the nhl, now he's gone and all of a sudden he's Jesus Christ.

  12. Fuck Pittsburgh is so lucky. Leafs absolutely gonna regret this when pens secure a couple cups. Shanahan should have been fired and replaced with Dub.

What an absolute monster. Penguins fans, you guys have scored more than you know.

  13. Dubas and Kyle Davidson made a lot of moves together (despite Dubas baselessly accusing Davidson of revving up TOR’s own media on Fleury). CHI could be a dumping ground for short, big contracts PITT needs to unload… for a price (likely draft assets).

  14. Dubas is one of the worst gm in nhl history… he had it all! Sick contracts to trade, first overall pick+a lot more, sick prospects, unlimited money and he did NOTHING! He robbed an elite talent from ny islanders and still… nothing! How he even got a job is unreal.

  15. I just can't see how the Pens become a competitive team again. Crosby, Malkin and Letang are all well-on, and I haven't seen any young players ready to become consistent second liners. Hopefully, he is given time to reorient the team to a post CML era. At least he's not dealing with trying to keep his core together.

As said, they do not to solidify their goaltending.

  16. “His focus will be on goaltending, defence, and depth”. Polar opposite to what he did with the Leafs. Odd how that light bulb has turned on immediately after he is gone

  17. I would bet Dubas in Pittsburg with the Pens wins a cup before the leafs. In the end the goal is to win the big prize.

  18. ok wow only 1 first round draft pic since 2018 true since He traded away all the other draft pics , he traded for unrestricted free agents that didn't stick around that he obviously over paid for now Toronto has no good pics thanks to him, i am totally blowen away by how they think he is any good , any person could have done his job in toronto and been more successful i can't wait to see Pittsburg get screwed up by him

  19. He should be successful. Although Pittsburgh loves their hockey, they don’t hold everyone under the microscope like Toronto.

  20. How long until Sheldon Keefe joins him in Pittsburgh? He should also take Matt Murray with him. July 1st Justin Holl 4yrs/10.5M Penguins no movement first signing in Pittsburgh 😂

  21. Dubas fucked up the leafs goaltending….well at least half of it. Campbell was playing pretty good with the leafs (alot better then Murray has been) I was surprised how bad Campbell got with edmonton although he got alot better down the stretch. I personally think the leafs would've been better off with Campbell and samsonov, Murray is just Terrible, can't even get 20 games out of that guy.

  22. For every good step… he made some serious blunders as well. Trades he is probably 70/30 in making good deals to bad… but look out this guy is WAY too personable with his players and its clear that agents walk all over this guy. From the big guns to the depth players he rewards too many players for what he perceives they will do and not what they have done or can do. I'm not talking about the "core four" everyone knows about those guys, look at contracts like Kerfoot and anyone on the Leafs roster in the past 5 years making 2.5 mil who should be making 1 or less. Yes he could get legacy players to resign here cheap like Speeza and Gio but he's also handcuffed himself by giving away a million here, a million there which has led to things like not being able to sign Zack Hyman for instance who would have stayed for 1 more million. Then there are the trading to get rid of problems like Marleau for a 1st. Lots of arguments to be made but as Hockey fan and not just a Leafs fan, Dubas is a stubborn, egocentric man who will die on the hill of his core beliefs that you can judge hockey success through moneyball tactics… and to an extent he is right if Presidents trophy banners and point record seasons equal success to you… Toronto is not Seattle, we are looking for a championship. The fact that Seattle made it to game 7 of the 2nd round in year after drafting a bunch of 3rd liners the year before and the Leafs can't put together a roster who knows how to play playoff hockey is to me Dubas's fault.

  23. Kyle was saying only a week ago that he couldn’t see himself anywhere else except in Toronto …riiiiight
