If you were an NHL Player, what is the ONE place you wouldnt want to get traded to?
quick is such an icon. he went to high school in my town in ct, and i am so, so, forever proud of him for representing us like he has! <3 we love you!
Atleast fleury went to a playoff team
If they win the cup this will go down as a fantastic trade, they most likely wont win but there is always a chance.
He was left unprotected in the expansion draft. He knew his situation.
He felt he had more hockey to play, but the kings were not going to pay him.
This is hockey, if you been alive long enough you know that this happens to HOF as well as nameless jabronies all the time.
Quick with land gently upon his wallet and HOF credentials and enjoy his time with the Blue Jackets. Maybe he has a resurgence?
He will always be our favorite Kings goalie right behind Rogie & Rhrudy ;p
He’s the GOAT.
the way you said ohio made me cackle lmao
I had the same exact thoughts when I saw this bro!! I couldn't agree more!! You think Columbus keeps him or looks to flip him by Friday at 3pm? 🤔 I thought I had read that the Columbus GM was going to try and do rite by Quick….🤷♂
What can you say. The dollar rules all. My two cents is that there is still plenty of money. Do the right thing.
Edmonton traded the best ever…. # 99. It's a business!
i can wear quick on a cbj jersey now
quick should go postal
As an Oilers fan who remembers Ryan Smyth being traded to the Isles in 2007 – I feel for Quick.
Fleury was arguably worse. Peter TheBore benched him IN THE PLAYOFFS while he was at the TOP of his game for Lehner (who isn't even close in talent) THEN the team traded him- Feury- AFTER Lehner played borderline awful and the Knights were eliminated!!
LA did him dirty
As a LA girl and long time Kings fan, my only thought was WTF!?!?!?
Thank you for comparing the kaner trade. Exactly, the chemistry and the blowback might not be worth it. Time will tell.
If Wayne can be traded, anyone can
Ohio is a toxic wasteland at the moment who would want to move to Ohio right now smh
.879 save % this season. That’s not average, or bad… he’s a non-option with those numbers. It’s a business and frankly he’s lucky he wasn’t thrown on waivers and sent to the minors. In fact it’s only his history with the team and his salary that prevented that from happening. He can go start games in Columbus and hopefully be angry and kick start his season so he can get another contract. Otherwise he’s done. If anything LA did him a favour by moving him
Not if they get bedard….
Thank you for the quick update videos man. I don’t have time to watch every game only our sad flamers lol so thanks again man
I like your channel and this video and I totally agree with you. As a longtime Kings fan and Quick fan aswell but I was pissed over this.
In my opinion their goalie tandem was ok, right know who cares about goalie stats? It is the WINS that counts at this stage og the season. And we know what Quick can do in the playoff. He should have had the chance to retire as a King. My respect for Blake sunk, but all my respect for Quick, best goalie in the history of LA Kings
Wow. He at least deserved to be let known of this beforehand.
Well, Quick in Columbus didn't last long.
hes in vegas now
Great video, even though I’m not that big of a Kings fan, but I believe this was a great move in trading goaltender Quick to Columbus.
One, he’s was becoming a liability for Los Angeles, I saw some the games post 2014, I could tell he was in decline. His decline became more evident in 2017. Quite honestly Jonathan Quick hasn’t been the best since the 2014 championship run. In addition, he’s more injury prone now, having a goaltender that’s injury prone can cost you a shot at the Cup. If want to win the Stanley Cup, you need a reliable goalie that is young and less likely to get injured. Finally, Quick is not getting younger (he’s almost 40) , the Kings needed young talent in goaltending, the only decent goaltender they have is Copley. Kopiter and Doughty are not getting younger either, who knows how long they have left (giving them 2-4 years at most). The kings still have a shot at the Stanley Cup with Fiela, Kopiter, Gavrikov, and Doughty with Korpisalo starting in net and Copley as backup goaltender.
I also believe that the Kings organization could of handled the trade more professionally, by giving him a proper farewell (dedicating a game in his honor and presenting him a plaque thank him for his 17 years of service it) and telling him before the game that he’s a Blue Jacket now.
At the end of the day the Kings organization is a business, like what the other posters mentioned. Rob Blake is an excellent GM from what I heard.
Silly goose
Your looking at it as a fan and not a business but you already know that so not saying anything you already don't know
Copley I think is better than Korpasiallo
I just heard Quick is now a Golden Knight.
You should watch volleyball
funny to watch now
I don't get how people thought Quickie was treated like shit??
Brother, it's called business.
then today he got shipped off to vegas
i mean you're in LA where its nice then you enter Ohio where all the memes are at lol… id be upset too
Quick should have retired ages ago.
Id rather GMs trade players at the end of their contracts instead of losing out.
Some players don't know when to quit… Blake obviously had to make the decision 🙄
Quick is going to Vegas
Was it disrespectful when Luc got traded? Was it disrespectful when Blake got traded? No. It is a business. There are very few players who get drafted by a team and play their whole career there, so come off your high horse. It was unknown if Quick would retire after this year, especially how sub-par it was, and trading him to get needed pieces for him while he still had some value is a total business decision. Was the trade disrespectful? No. Hell, Gretz got traded 3 times.
It is a business… but that being said, doesnt mean it isnt disrespectful. It most definitely is
Kane had legal control…. To say that the Hawks org is one to look out for players well being is pretty funny
Sorry JohnnyHawkey, but do some research. Chicago trading Kane to the NYR had absolutely nothing to do with respecting a legend's with. Just 0. Kane had a full NMC, so Chicago literally had to trade him to NY or else Kane wouldn't waive his clause.
Been a King's fan from age 5-48… long time 4 sure! Can't say enough about Quick. No cups without him. He certainly deserved a heads up on it and not at the end of a road trip! Hate to say it but, no one thought Gretzky would be dealt from Edmonton neither. Blake should have been more direct with him though. If we get a couple more cups soon then it's all good. The kids benefited from being around and shooting in practice on a H.O.F goalie too, they should be grateful! GKG!
Just shut up this is the NHL
Not mentioned, possibly to the timing of when this video was made, but he then got dealt again to Vegas. Not even cooled off from the oven.
Quick was awful this year yes he was Swiss cheese he had an .876 ave pct with us this year
he had his day in the sun…all good things come to an end…
could be worse and go to Calgary
01:45 The Wario meme seems relevant.
The disrespect
