  1. If Shanahan has already made the decision to keep the Core 4 and Sheldon Keefe as coach then why does he even need a GM. The biggest problem with the Leafs is that certain management types like Shanahan have an ego problem and need to be in control of everything. The Core 4 have been a complete failure in the playoffs and Keefe has been out coached every year in the playoffs yet they want to keep all of them. The core 4 have screwed this team and will continue to do so as long as they keep them. This team is going to be lost in the woods for the next 5 years either way so they would be better off starting over changing the players and the coach and getting rid of Shanahan and let Treliving build the team properly by balancing the team over 4 lines/6D/2 goalies instead of paying 4 players half the salary cap that prevents building the team properly.

  2. Nothing is changing but the GM, running it all back again, just replacing UFA with other UFA. You heard it here first, same shit just another pathetic day

  3. First thing in thought about was wow what a pathetic press conference setup for a multi billion dollar organization.

  4. Dubas isn't the savior everyone suddenly seems to think he is. He created a Cap Mess that he was unwilling to fix. Not a bad GM, but extremely overrated.

  5. And hockey royalty continues.
As a Wings fan, I wish him the best of luck in this great franchise’s future journey.
    🏒🥅🍁👍

  6. For once I'd like the team leadership to actually say they're trying to break the drought since since the league expanded beyond 6 teams and before colour TV existed. Everyone keeps says "…to get where we want to be" …Say it's name FFS!! Say we're trying to win the Stanley Cup. No one in this organization says it.

  7. Lot of Dubasites in the comments seem to be pleasantly surprised. Imagine that? The sky isn't falling

  8. Can he do what Dubas failed to do ? Bring a championship Stanley cup back to T oronto ! Will we see another 5 years wasted ? Thats the question ! Trouble is hes got bloated contracts to iron out and sign players . Good luck ! FUSTRATION isnt what i call FAILIER bub a sports car with a bad engine is still a lemon and a pig with lipstick on it is still a pig ! Your not PUNCH IMLACH ! His name says it all PUNCH !

  9. Watch the chat channel, see how ridiculous our fan base are. Brad did as good a job as you could in this siduation IMO. He has come into a hockey team looked at by multi-million eyes and most of those eyes are not pleased atm over playoff success and other reasons. This team is going to become a lot tougher hit wise, hopefully keeping our core 4 in the process. I give Brad a B+ for this interview.

  10. No. 1 reason Leafs lost is the goaltender. Nobody can win a series without world class goaltender. This should be number 1,2,5,15, and 20 priority. After that we can discuss "the core 4", etc.

  11. The last question about what the Leafs lacked from afar was a tru political answer but the good thing is i truly think he actually sees a few issues and was just not really willing to get into it because at the end he said we will fix what i think we need to fix.

  12. As an outsider (Bruins fan), if you want to keep the 4 core/staff AND expect change then you need to give Sheldon the green light to ‘Pull a Maurice’ with piss and vinegar and beat the softness out of them with a dedicated sports psychologist to work specifically for playoff toughness and tell the core this summer to never again expect hand-holding. Otherwise, you really need to trade some of the core to bring in a Sam Bennet or Tkachuk type. Florida was also playing soft until Maurice started calling them out/ chewed them out, but he was also given the green light to do so. If the core is too sensitive to handle this, then I see them again winning 100+ points in the regular season and being shaky again in the post season and vulnerable to physical teams that are kicking it up a notch – which will be the case because the whole league is taking notes on Florida’s simple blueprint of playing legally dirty with super-aggressive forechecking against skilled teams and to then coach them up to impose their will and crush the opponent. Not saying this is the only way to win a cup , but a pathway to get out of the Eastern Conference to play for one.

Edit: IOW’s, banking that you can fight fire with fire (ie hitting the bully in the mouth), THEN use your skill to then be the difference instead of skill being front and center as your playoff M.O.

  13. Dubes didn't know how to bring in the right kind of players to support the core 4. I think Brad will do better

  14. Impressive first impression for me. I'm optimistic about next season…but I fully expect the Penguins to knock us out of the playoffs next year! 🙁

  15. Shanny feels the pressure but did not take any ownership of the last 9 years. Dubas at least took responsibility for his part.
