To be fair to Ottawa… Stone can’t play a full regular season and probably never will again. And Ottawa isn’t a playoff team, so you can’t just pay a guy big money to miss half the season and not have the playoffs to make up for it. Sens made the right decision.
As a sens fan this pisses me off and makes me really dislike Stone… BUT to be fair at that time Melynk was the owner… and probably the WORST owner in the NHL (too bad he didnt die sooner) i dont completely blame Stone
As a Sens fan, I honestly don’t think it would’ve worked out with Stone. I think it was best for both parties to part ways.
We were entering a rebuild and shipping off Stone solidified that the room was Tkachuks to lead (the next gen)… not to mention if Stone was still on the roster on the RW, who knows if Giroux comes in?
