Of course they should trade any player that will be great. Can’t have this team actually competing for a cup. We need more over paid underperforming players. Too many great young value contracts on this team. They need more OELs
Canucks media are freaking stupid. They always want good players traded. you control players with lower salary and trade players with bigger salaries unless you have super stars which you build around. Grow up Vancouver media
keep A. SILOVS TRADE DEMKO PLUS 2024 1ST ROUND PICK AND 2ND AN BESSOR AN GARLIN FOR CONARD BEDARD VANCOUVER HAS LET TO MANY 1ST ROUNDERS FROM VAN THAT HAVE WON THE CUP JOE SAKIT PAUL KYRIA GET WITH THE PROGRAM MANEGMENT AS NO TEAM HAS WON THE CUP WITH OUT A 1ST OVERAL GENERATAL PLAYER IN 25YRS .
Why does ALL the media do this in Vancouver? As soon as they get a good player they start to figure out how much they can trade the player for. Yet when they talk about the teams that are perennial winners they always talk about how they have so many players that they have drafted and brought up through their system.
It depends. What are the expectations for next season? I’d rather dump salary if possible and pick up someone who can play 35 games because it’s clear that when Demko is overworked, he gets hurt. But the Canucks love making the same mistakes over and over again.
The question you always need to ask when rebuilding is "is this player likely to be around when we're good next?" That seems more likely for Silovs than for Demko, but Demko is JUST young enough that you can't definitively say "no" for him.
My two cents… gratz to silovs but cmon man this tourney was ahl calibur at best and you know nux can’t afford to pay demko when his contract ends so let’s not trade our best goalie prospect and maybe split the season for silovs starting in Abby and getting some games in the nhl when teams are playing for something later in the season and actually see what silovs looks like then…
Not ridiculous to think of the possibility. Remember when Zac Fucale was one of the hottest prospects after the world juniors and he was a bust. Canucks could absolutely fleece a team willing to give up a lot but its a big risk
Trading silovs isnt a bid deal. But the trade value doesnt justify it. So he was once a late pick… his value has certainly ballooned, but to what? Youre not getting a 2nd round pick for him.. youre also not getting good young nhlers. If anything, the idea that "if they really believe in him, move demko" makes way more sense.
I get the reason the question was asked. Here is an area where you have something other teams desperately need, but which may or may not totally pan out. On one hand, we would love to keep him to increase our confidence that we'll have strong goaltending moving forward. And on the other hand, we do need to make some trades to improve the D-core. Could trading a potential backup for next season give us a really strong stay-at-home defenseman as well as clearing some cap space from OEL? Again, without knowing what's on the table, it's impossible to say if it's a good deal, but of course management should be thinking about that, and if the RIGHT deal is there, going for it. But, yeah.. it has to be worth it, since this guy might be a strong number 1 some day.
One thing that does concern me about Silovs is that the majority of the goals he did allow this tournament were straight snap/wrist shots from just inside the circles.. Especially against Canada & USA. Even the goal he gave up against Sweden. Liljgren sniped it right by him. Just something I noticed as the Latvia schedule got harder & he faced more NHL caliber players.
Trading Silvos would be dumbest move. You trade Demko Canucks are four years from going deep in playoffs. Demko would bring you 2 second round picks plus a prospect keeper. Silvos can do it.
If it was up to Vancouver hockey media, we would trade the following players at the peak of their abilities: Pettersson, Hughes, Kuzmenko, Miller, Naslund, the Sedins, Demko, Burrows, and on an on. The Vancouver sports media's goal is not to keep quality players and have a winning team. Their goal is to create gossip & rumors and put pressure on management to trade good players away, so that they can snicker in the corner and say "tee-hee, I helped make that happen." They know that some fans are going to jump on any bandwagon and follow any narrative. What they're doing is controversy-baiting. And Vancouver hockey media is the worst in the league for that. They want stories to write and talk about. They couldn't care less if the team wins or not. In fact, I'm pretty sure a lot of them would prefer the team doesn't win. It's more fun for them to report on controversial / negative / dramatic stuff than it is to report on a winning team. Am I being a little cynical here? A bit. Am I half-joking or at least exaggerating to make the point? You could say that. But is there truth to it? Darn tootin' there is.
Here is one for a bold move…..bring in j. Benn and m. Lucic. Ship out Kuzmenko and garland. Keep Myers. Buy out OEL. Go shopping for big strong dmen. Play Demko and Silovs 60/40. I’m 100% open to trading the 1st round pick this year.

Package him with OEL since the owner is a clown that likes to meddle but not do buy outs
Only for an amazing return, you dont trade this kind of players just to get rid of a stupid contract.
Cory Schneider fetched the Canucks the #9 pick. If Silovs can develop and be a very good goalie in the NHL…. imagine what he (or Demko) can fetch.
To get rid of oel yes
I saw Jim Rutherford doing Cartwheels at Wreck Beach

Demko to CBJ for Merzlinkins and the 3rd overall pick.
Love the poll question Donny

Trade him while the value is high! This is not a dumb question, we got demko, get some value!
Trading Silvos right now would be the dumbest thing to do! Demko & Silvos are our tandem for next season! Don't trade Silvos! 🤦♂
Trade him while value is high. His peak years will likely be past our competitive window.
not a chance in trading canucks young stud silvos Demko will always get wounded easly Once injured always easly re-injured big frames fall off quick

and get what? a bag of peanuts? not sure if you know how goalie trade value works.
What a silly question to even ask….

trade him for some nebulous future piece of meat
I wonder if Silovs + 11th overall could get us into the top five?
At this point everything is on the table.
Not ridiculous to think of the possibility. Remember when Zac Fucale was one of the hottest prospects after the world juniors and he was a bust. Canucks could absolutely fleece a team willing to give up a lot but its a big risk
The bold move would be trading Demko. Silovs trade value is marginal at best.
bad question, bad answers. skip this one
Trading silovs would be such a canucks move

Whomever it was that dreamed up this needs their brain removed and examined for cte
I think the value he provides immediately as a backup outweighs the return you'd get for him at the moment.

Such a stir the pot question. Obviously the answer is no. I love it tho!😂😂😂
Why would Canucks trade Silvos?? That’s not a smart move
Of course. Every team should consider trading any of their players. What is the return to consider?
Have you lost your fn mind
