Joe Veleno just did something completely out of line. Leading all Canadian Forwards with 2 goals 3 assists coming into todays game between Team Canada and Team Switzerland. Midway through the 2nd period, Veleno went down in a battle with Nino Niederreiter behind the Canada net as the teams battled for the puck as Veleno stomps on Niederreiter with his skate! This was just brutal. Stomping his skate blade right to Niederreiter’s ankle, this looked like clear intent to injure. To make it worse, after the battle in front, it was Niederreiter who got called on this after a pretty good sell job from Veleno as this whole sequence just does not look great on Veleno. I'm glad the Swiss won this one; poetic justice. I can't remember thinking that it was good that a team Canada lost (as I'm a proud Canadian), but after a play like that the coach needs to send that boy home if we want a shred of dignity on the bench.
