  1. Comment your thoughts… Tough news for Yotes fans

They still might play in Mullett Arena the next couple seasons but after that…?

  2. the current population of Salt Lake City is just over 200,000 people. That's too small of a market….

  3. Maybe another Canadian team for the central, there is only one Canadian team in the central (Winnipeg Jets) and that's all they have, having another one, will be huge for Canada

  4. It’s not over but it’s super disappointing, I get to go to a tone of Yotes games. SLC makes sense because I think they could play in the Jazz arena. Tage Thompson, Austin Matthews, Matt Knies it’s so disappointing this is a huge miss for the people of AZ.

  5. As a Senators fan, my heart and my prayers for all those who are Arizona fans, it hurts now and I don't blame you at all, you and you're team had great times, look back to you're memories, just let you know, I am there for ya,

  6. 3rd times a charm in Georgia brand it and market it at a state level. The Franchise should make a move on Carey Price after July 1st he is only owed 17 000 000 over 3 years. Bringing In star power to grow your market share will pay dividends both financially and statistically now is the time to leave a mark of hockey honor here everybody is watching. Good luck at the draft the future is in the hands of the new men worthy of those who came before them.Lets go Coyotes. 🦩

  7. as someone who just moved to SLC from BC, i can say that there is a fuck ton of interest in hockey in utah. tons of fans of the golden knights and avalanche. i feel like utah could easily support an nhl club and an mlb club (some billionaires in SLC want to bring mlb here as well)

but yeah, there's a lot of hockey fans here so i really dont think it'd be an issue like with arizona. people forget that northern utah has tons of skiing and skating and interest in winter sports. the olympics are also gonna come back here at some point and the jazz owner would love to build a fancy arena to house the jazz and an nhl club.

  8. Houston is a Top 5 TV Market and has a huge population. That’s likely where they are going

  9. Anyone who buys the Yotes is loving it the fact they have to move the team makes the team less valuable knowing that whoever buys it will have to pay relocation fees but I could see a scenario where the fee is waived

  10. "We are very disappointed that the people of Arizona did not want to give FREE bazillions to the poor poor billionaire". Who woulda thunk.

  11. Bettman is the biggest .. in all sports, time for Canada to exit NHL and take all teams ,including a new team from Quebec, and start their own league, Bettman does not like Canadian teams

  12. voters saying no to corporate welfare's never bad news.

arizona has grassroots support and a solid fanbase, they've never had a competitive arena and strong ownership.

there'd be lots of fan support for the coyotes if the team was supported by the private sector like it should be.

  13. I would say Houston for market and Dallas rivalry purposes but SLC sounds intriguing. Coyotes have had money issues since they got there, they almost relocated to Hamilton in 2009, have had multiple council voting and debate issues, and even got kicked out of the Glendale arena to the point that they're playing in a 5k arena. As much as it sucks for the fans, Coyotes in Arizona has been an issue for over a decade and a half. Time to peel off the band aid ad move forward to a new area.

  14. I lived in Utah for a decade. If they roll to SLC they'll be relocating again within 15 years. Terrible sports market unless you're a college team.

  15. Im wondering if Gary Bettman doesnt 9001 IQ galaxy brain this… hear me out: Have the Coyotes move to QC and become the Nordiques. Everyone in Canada loves Bettman and loads of money comes in for HRR and relocation fee. Then in 2 years, Gary announces that due to conference imbalance, the NHL is expanding to Houston and Salt Lake City for 850M per franchise.

  16. No one wants to deal with the ownership group. The best thing to happen to this team would be for a huge management group to buy it. Snoop is apparently looking to be a part of a hockey team.

  17. If the coyotes leave arizona move them back to Winnipeg and the current winnipeg franchise to quebec

  18. Oh so now it goes from the coyotes NEEDING to relocate badly from fans like 2 years ago to oh we need to keep them in Arizona like come on make up your minds

  19. My dream relocation would be Quebec City or being the 3rd team in Ontario in either Hamilton or Toronto’s 2nd team. But Salt Lake City is most likely in my opinion along with Houston and San Diego.

  20. The Jazz would now not only be the Only Team In Town and would be amazing for the SLC community in general to finally have a 2nd Big 4 team

Also To have that lead to An MLB team and finally An NFL team in the future would be amazing…fr

  21. Hoping they go to UT because it would be a great pair to have the Jazz and another team possibly even sharing Vivint arena if not a cool new arena

  22. The coyotes should’ve been moved seven years ago. We all knew even as fans that they would never get a arena. It was a waste of time. It should’ve been relocated long time ago. I understand that Gary Bettman is trying to hold on because of the sunshine city, the golf courses, and the sponsors, you name it, now you’ve ruined it because you have families in Phoenix that have to move now should’ve been done long time ago. I believe Houston is in the running. They already have a new Toyota Arena that can do an NHL hockey team right now and think about this I believe it’s 2.6 billion people that live there so the Hockey market would thrive in Houston Texas.

  23. I just found out the other day that Kessell was traded to VGK, who gives a fuck about Arizona Down South has enough teams they don’t give a fuck about hockey

  24. As a Georgia native and a huge Thrashers fan growing up, I can completely understand the pain and what that feels like for all the hockey fans that love and support the Coyotes along with the Coyotes management. I am very shocked the vote didn't go through and really hate that for Coyotes Fans and for the Franchise owners as a whole! I really did think that the vote would pass, and they would play in Tempe, the proposal they had for Tempe is a sweet setup!

I will say this, but if Arizona does end up relocating, I would love if Arizona does relocate to Atlanta BUT realistically, I can see them relocating to another city out west like Houston as the top choice or another city like Salt Lake City, Portland, Kansas City to keep the divisions and conferences even!

BUT if Arizona decides sells the team and is open to offers, I think that multiple cities will places bids/offers for the team and they will take the highest bid/offer and if Atlanta has the highest offer compared to the other cities that places bids/offers, then Arizona should sell the team to Atlanta! Or whoever wants to buy the team with the highest offer will get the team even if that means Houston, Portland, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, you name it

If they go that route, I think that will really determine what city really does wants an NHL team!

Reasons how the NHL coming back to Atlanta can work

    1) they have expressed strong interest in wanting another team via expansion/NEED to have GREAT Management! (It appears they have it now)

    2) they have proposed a new entertainment center that includes an NHL arena in the suburbs of Atlanta (something the Flames and Thrashers never did and this is a very wise move to do; the Atlanta Braves moved to the suburbs of Atlanta recently and have succeeded very well there so if there is success with another professional sports in Atlanta with this approach, the same can happen if Atlanta gets another NHL team!)

    3) they already have 2 hockey size arenas in place (State Farm Arena where the Hawks play at and Gas South Arena where the ECHL Atlanta Gladiators play at) to potentially play in temporarily while their new arena gets built! and, even though it doesn't mean anything, is that the Atlanta Gladiators current NHL Affiliate is the Arizona Coyotes…

(I think playing in the Gas South Arena temporarily is more reasonable knowing the Thrashers history with sharing the Phillips/State Farm Arena with the Hawks and how Anson Carter, a former NHL player and now NHL Analyst, is a co-owner of the Atlanta Gladiators Franchise so I think he will definitely accommodate a potential NHL team to play in the same building as the Gladiators until the new Arena gets build in Cumming/Alpharetta area which is within roughly a 30 minute proximity of Gas South Arena)

  25. Houston over SLC. SLC is a small market that already has an NBA and MLS team (stretched sports dollar), and would be sandwiched in between the Golden Knights and Avalanche for fanship even within their own state and especially within nearby states where fans may just root for the more successful Knights or Avs (or Kraken in the case of Idaho) instead. Greater Houston alone has nearly twice the population of all of Utah and would also be able to pull from the rest of South Texas plus Louisiana (only 5 hours away from New Orleans).

  26. The #Coyotes are now looking towards Mesa over Tempe

    Heard the same thing yesterday.
Fiesta Mall was one of several sites that I mentioned as possibilities in my story the morning after the Tempe vote.
I think the Coyotes could be looking at as many as 5-6 sites, however.

Latest: Mesa officials tell me the @ArizonaCoyotes reached out yesterday following their loss in Tempe. The team is eyeing the Fiesta Mall site – prime land in the East Valley‘s largest city. Caution: any potential arena deal there could require another public vote. #azfamily

  27. I love the coyotes, Iive in slc and I go to a game once or twice a year wouldn’t love to see them relocate because of the impact and growing of the sport. I think an expansion team would be better
