Is there a more iconic goalie mask of the ‘90s than Felix Potvin?

Who’s your pick?

  1. He had some nice ones. I’d add Cujo, Belfour, as well as some others

  2. somefuntoo

I was going to say Cujo but somebody beat me to it

  3. roochenz

Brian Hayward Sharks mask. Though Felix and Belfour are my two personal favorites.

  4. ThatHouseCDN780

John Vanbiesbrouck and Brian Haywards design of stuck in animal mouth

  5. AlternativeAdorable1

I like how it’s kinda like venom on his mask

  6. AceConspirator

Yes. Andy Moog’s Bruins mask is probably the best of all time.

  7. vagrantsynergy

He was my favorite goalie growing up. Loved his masks. I have almost every Maple
    Leafs card that he had.

    Also, I’m a Bruins fan.

  8. Sonicboom343

Hasek had the best, simple yet effective

  9. VinnyBowlojello

Trevor Kidd had a nice one with the dragon

  10. Acceptable-Fold-3192

Hate him but Belfour’s mask is much more iconic.

    CuJo’s is up there too.

  11. QuerkleIndica

Shoutout to Corey Hirsch Alfred Hitchcock mask since most have been mentioned

Mike Richter’s mask was iconic. This from a Leafs fan. Felix is up there obviously.

After Potvin had left the Leafs, I would draw pictures of what his mask would have looked like on other teams. Would have like to see Columbus with the Stinger wings in real life, and of course the Flyers would have really popped.

I recently did a photoshop with Kraken colors, a tentacle on the side, and the eye in red. I’ll see if I can find it.

Nothing beats the Vanbiesbrouck panther mask for me

My vote is for all the patterned masks that remained the same when goalies moved teams with different color ways…Belfour, Brodeur (lol), Cujo, and Potvin are all in that boat.

Personal favorite is Roy’s first painted mask with the Avs!

Anyone else remember Olaf Kolzigs helmet with the dinosaurs.. shit was nasty with it

  17. Shortbus_Playboy

    Yeah, there is.

Ed Belfour had the most iconic 90’s mask, hands down.

    Eddie the Eagle

    Johan Hedberg and the Moose

  19. LuddoNadd

Yes, John Vanbiesbrouck’s mask when he was with the Panthers.

  20. garagespringsgirl

Curtis Joseph’s Cujo was my favorite!

I can’t beleive no one talked about Ottawa’s Patrick Lalime yet.

First NHL year with Ottawa was 1999-2000

  22. commanderr01

I’d say Cujo probably has the most iconic mask imo even non hockey fans know about his mask

  23. EmperorXerro

Ed Belfour is the only correct answer though I did love Potvin’s Leafs mask.

All the names in this thread just make me miss my McDonald’s goalie mask collection

  25. TheRitalinCommando

I’ll always like Chris Osgood’s mask. He was one of the last good goalies to use the cage and it’s a nice bit of tradition.

  26. Hairy_Scholar9751

The Cats mask all the way. Still one of my favorites of all time.

  27. Outrageous-Estimate9

Um Brian Hayward had best mask in 90s by far

There were lots of better masks than Potvin
