If there isn’t a caveat (ie another move) idk if I love this for Detroit, sure picks are nice but that right side is barren both now and in the future, hope they know what they are doing
Adding Hronek should be perfect for the Canucks' plan of not being bad enough to get a top draft pick, but also being too bad to make the playoffs.
They aren't rebuilding they are doing a major surgery retool. The have to do that as Demko, Kuzy, Petey, Hughes are coming into the peak years. You have to give up good assets to get good assets. I like the move for both teams. The Canucks still have their good first round pick so they will be fine. They need to balance the now with the future instead of all in on future or all in on the now. This is a good move by management in my view. Time will tell how it all shakes out.

As a Canucks fan I don’t mind the deal but yes it does seem too high a price but the part I’m more confused on is why couldn’t this deal have waited till the draft? Canucks shouldn’t be trying to get better right at this point of the season when we’re going for a lottery pic. With Demko healthy and now getting a great rhd defensemen, idk how were gunna be shittier than before
Given what the Canucks got for Bo and a second, I think it makes sense. Hronek is on a good deal and he has another year at that cap hit. He's gonna hit 50+ points this year and everyone's going whyyyyyyy. A right shot d man in his prime go for big value. And who knows when that pick makes the team or if he even does. Another thing is Elias and Quinn are going to need to be extended soon. A move like this tells the team we want to win now, not in 3 years. I can almost guarantee you all, that Hronek will be by far the better player compared to whoever gets drafted with that pick. The odds are you don't get a player like Hronek with a 1st in the second half of the draft. Remember the Miller trade everyone ? Everyone was wtf they gave up a first for a 50 point player who was a cap dump. In the end it was a very good trade and that pick isn't half the player Miller is.
