Because I’m a crazy hockey fan and I love both of these young players equally, let’s compare the two in a chill, commentary style format. This is a comparison video between the Montreal Canadiens 3rd overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and the Detroit Red Wings 6th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft Filip Zadina. Now, they’re not necessarily NHL prospects anymore, but I think it’d still be fun to look at them in this way.

U didn’t analyze the last game?
Remember Habs fans saying cockheadniemi was better then Pettersson?
Agree about what you had to say about zadina.( BIG RED WINGS) fan for life. Good video. Thanks for talking about are prospects.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wings suck
Who would you rather have? Jesperi Kotkanniemi or Filip Zadina? Canucks fan in me is like neither because QUINN HUGHES 😎 jokes aside, all these guys are still young and I still believe Kotkaniemi and Zadina will be really good players for their teams down the road.
this video is full of shit
Should of picked Brady Tkachuk
Kotkaniemi did have a better year one because he was in the NHL but you did kinda downplayed Zadina. In the AHL, 0.60 ppg and points (35 in 59) did lead all first-year pros and he missed 13 games.
Zadina has a decent defensive game and is great at setting people up. He hasn’t just been a goal scorer. If he is on a line with some talent, he’ll get more assists, too. He makes some amazing passes. There’s just been nobody to put it in the net. So yeah, he’ll score his goals, but he’s good defensively and a great playmaker for his age. His upside is huge…
Not sure why either team would be upset. I honestly wanted hughes and coco over zadina when we took him. Especially when Detroits center core at the time was larkin, nielsen, glendening and ehn. Just glad we didn't stretch for a center like Arizona did with Hayton. Coco is having the centerman sophmore slump he will be fine. Hopefully Zadina can find his one-timer again soon and this will be a fun rivalry nonetheless. Glad we got Zadina but I cant help but think about how good a pairing of hughes and seider wouldve been.
I respect ur opinion but I think it’s trash if zadina would have had a normal game last night with 0 points would u have made this video I don’t think so jesperi completely dominated zadina last year kk and zadina had about the same production offensively the only difference is one played in the NHL and the other in the AHL wich is a big difference while zadina played quality time in the AHL and KK played on a 3rd line with arturri lehkonen and Joel armia two players he had more point then last year who are not offensive talents while lehkonnen as already scored 18 goals and armia has a really good year this year last year they weren’t that good offensively the number of times KK made insane passes to lehkonnen who had a glorious chance and misses was so long another thing to take in consideration is that kotkaniemi took a lot of muscular mass this summer and it’s going to take him time to adjust he almost didn’t play on the powerplay last year if we talk about zadina he has in career 9 points in 17 games in the NHL with just 2 goals if u take out his last game he has 6 points in 16 games in the NHL and just 3 points in 7 games this year. Last year zadina finished with a plus minus rating of -17 that’s atrocious while kotkaniemi had a + 1 in the NHL not the AHL kk was even playing on the pk sometimes for me zadina is a unidimensionnal player he just plays offense he’s not a physical guy and doesn’t have the two way game that KK has its funny to me how you say that zadina has the potential to score 40-45 goals in the NHL and be a Maurice Rocket richard trophy winner he has 2 goals in the NHL for 17 games if he continues on this pace he would score 9 to 10 goals in a full season I know what ur going to say it’s only 17 games but remember me how many games kotkaniemi has played this year on suppositly one of the worst sophomore slump of all time 22 games only 5 more than Zadina and if u turn to his AHL numbers zadina was on pace to score 22 goals in his rookie year in the AHL 22 goals isn’t bad but for a guy who has the potential to Win the Maurice Richard like u say 22 projected goals over a full season for a rookie year in the AHL in the AHL I repeat it’s fucking trash how was he doing in the AHL before he got called up 7 goals in 20 game he was on pace for 28 goals that’s not bad but for his 2 nd year in the AHL it isn’t really good it doesn’t impress me. We can take a look at his world juniors production then maybe it’s better 1 assist in 5 games that’s terrible he was supposed to lead his team and have like 5 goals in 5 games not 1 point in 5 games and again he finished with a -3 differential so filip zadina for me is a one dimensional player he only plays offense and when he’s not producing he’s useless to a hockey club don’t get me wrong there’s great players like that like Nikita kucherov but zadina hasn’t showed yet is ability to score goals I think I have real solid arguments so ur question his who would I take between a 6’3 208 pounds two way centerman like Anze Kopitar who had a identical rookie year to Aleksander Barkov and Joe Thornton or a 6 foot 190 pounds "sniper" 😂😂 who hasn’t demonstrated yet his capacity to score at a pro level and a guy who would have not so great numbers of it wasn’t for his last game. The choice is pretty simple for me KK all the way now I want ur feedback on this what’s ur opinion about my arguments tell me
Zadina is going up and down, he can play in the NHL but the players who he is set up to play with wont help him develop. While going down to the AHL with Veleno with top mins will help his development.
KK is different this year. He added Muscle and is not use to it. He aint Fast. He is still growing. He is solid without the puck. He makes great passes. 200ft Player, Solid 2 Way Center. He isnt ready for the top 2 lines. He can stay 3rd line for 2 more years.
If you ask me who has the most Value. Well thats KK, A center is more valuable than a winger. Because they can play Center or Wing. And what makes KK a bit higher is his defensive game.
You dont see Centers being traded often.
But as of right now. I aint picking none of them. Maybe Tkachuk.
I'd rather have a 2 way center !
I would never trade KK for Zadina. Big talented centers are a rare breed and difficult to acquire. You need that to go far in the playoffs.
As a Red Wings fan, I love Filip Zadina, but I would've much rather had Quinn Hughes. From what I remember Ken Holland hinted at drafting him, as he said "We're looking to take a defenseman" right before the draft.
I love Filip Zadina with all my heart
Zadina's offensive up side may be higher and agreed it is
But I would have to go with KK, to understand the 2 way game and defensive side of the puck is far more valuable
KK is a center, so he has an advantage there for sure… but if we’re going off of who will put up more PPGs, it’ll be Zadina. I think the more interesting question is Zadina or Hughes? Quinn looks like the better choice atm for sure, but if you swap them, I think you’d say otherwise. Just due to the Wing’s System and their point in their rebuild, Hughes wouldn’t be nearly as good with Detroit. Likewise, Zadina would have more games and points under his belt with Vancouver. Time will tell how these 3 players will shake out, but I think they’ll all have solid nhl careers. My guess is Hughes will be ranked the highest (due to him being a D), then Zadina and then, a bit further back KK. Zadina will have the most goals of the bunch, and probably the most pts… but I could see QH keep up his monster assist numbers.
Do a video about justus annunen
Habs fans like myself must regret not taking Tkachuk, or Hughes. But Zadina? Nah, still a hard pass.
Zadina has more points in almost 1/3 of the games on a team that has an almost historically bad goal differential.
…uh,
Zadina
Basically I was on the Hughes train until Zadina dropped to us, would have been awesome to get Hughes bc he’s from Michigan and our d core is horrendous. But I still have a lot of faith in Zadina. Plus the red wings franchise has never had a player win the rocket Richard trophy so I hope he can be that player, tbh he reminds me of a Patrick Kane type player. Kids an above average playmaker, he has some really nice sauces! Can’t wait for Seider tho!!
kotkanieme is playing 3rd line center or he is injured…
Both are good but zadinas 2 way game is way to underrated.
This video is fuckin stupid lol, kotkaniemi definitely has more value. But doesn’t mean Zadina isn’t going to have a good scoring career. Centers are almost always more valuable.
another goal for zadina today
Jesperi is always hurt zedina is way better
kotkaniemi played LW in the liiga
I never understand the hype for Zadina. Is he a top liner? Yes of course, but he don't impact the game like a Svechnikov. He score a lot a goal in the same spot that's why a don't think I will score the same in the Nhl. 25-30 goals maybe 35 on is best season. Kotkaniemi have a lot more asset in is game that Zadina. When Kotkaniemi doesn't produce, he is still usefull because he can control the game create chance and make is teamate better. Kotkaniemi will be your PP QB, not Zadina. Much much better playmaker. But Zadina is a better skater I will give him that.
Larkin didn’t wait a year
