Would Toews want to come back?
I hate to be that guy but I think this team needs to be blown up. I just don’t see this core winning a cup it pains me to say it, trust me. I think if they fully commit to the rebuild this summer, it would take 3-5 less years possibly than if they wait another year or two. But truthfully Lou’s ego is too big to do that. It’s very unfortunate. I’m afraid we might have some dark times ahead on Long Island for hockey but I really hope I’m completely wrong 🤞
Sakic is no fool. It would cost more than the two seconds isles got for toews to bring toews back. And toews was boosted by makar on the other side and had macK and ratanen up front and on av pp to dish to. Isles don't have no makar or macK or ratanen or av pp. And av's have $ 7 mil. in ltir cap space with landeskog out all or most of next season and only have five forwards plus two rfa's signed for next season. And av's still have the kadri hole. How about bo (before ntc kicks in)/romanov for toews/newkirk? I doubt even with the ltir room av's would be interested in lee-too slow for av's who have no second, third, fourth this draft and a system like isles near the bottom and void of prospects so picks/prospects can't be swapped. It would have to be player for player deal. Av's unlike isles don't have any bad long term deals to unload because sakic unlike lou knows what he is doing. Isles would still need a top line scorer regardless of bringing toews back. vt?
