It seems, I am the only Avalanche who is pissed off that the NHL did not release a DVD or Blu ray of the Avalanche Championship as they did before, even during the bubble. Why do they always ignore the Avalanche?
I just don't see the Avs moving on from Frankie. They're paying $5.4 mil for a fantastic duo when he's healthy. As you mentioned, they wouldn't save any money by signing another backup goalie of his caliber. I think they're anticipating letting Annunen play a more full time starter role in Loveland next year and if he performs well then promoting him to back up in the last year of Georgiev's contract to see if he can push for that job or not. Sign one of those handful of guys that you're confident can clear waivers and be that primary call up in case of injury at around the $1 mil range.
question #1 Landy – no it won't end his career.
question #2 RFAs – Newhook 2 year bridge, Byram will depend a lot more on what he will sign. I think the Avs would be happy with either bridge or long term, what does his camp want and at what price.
Question #3 Toews – this will depend a lot on what Byram signs for and what Toews is demanding on the next deal. My guess is that he will get traded this summer or walk as a UFA next summer.
Questoin #4 2C – will be addressed through trade even if it's not a center specifically they will strengthen that second line depth. I think Toews is a more realistic trade piece than Girard.
Question #5 can they make the SCF – yes. based on the history of Sakic/MacFrarland front office success and the core that is in place yes they can. The West likely won't dramatically improve so they can definitely be in that mix.
