Good for PoMo. He finally has players who are listening and give it their all. Happy for him!! Deserves this after the crappy players he had in Winnipeg and an incompetent GM!
I watched the Dubas presser and thought Kyle was getting himself in trouble almost from the beginning when he said he didn't need anyone else to be with him since all the decisions were his. Sounded like he was getting a little too big for his britches to me. Then when he said he wasn't sure if he wanted to return I thought right then he could get fired. You never say that kind of thing and especially as we later learned there was a deal on the table for his return. Whining about the pressure etc. made him look weak. This must have really stunned Shanahan. And then of course the last minute counter-offer landed with a thud. Clearly it seems Dubas really mishandled his own situation and to me that should give future prospective employers pause to hire him as a GM again. Frankly, I would pass.
As for Shanahan I think the reason he gave so much detail was to cover himself on his decision. You don't offer someone a deal one day and then fire them a few days later while still in the middle of a negotiation, unless you have a good reason. Shanahan had to explain it all in detail to show that his decision was justified, especially with his own bosses watching. I saw that as total ass cover and he did it well under the circumstances. However if he does find a really strong GM with big shoulders, who is not afraid to make the big decisions, he may also be hiring his own replacement, as his record to date has been anything but stellar. That may be what his bosses are waiting for. This may not be over.
PoMo's succes in Florida is making the Jets players look even worse. They got him to quit, refused to listen to Dave Lowry, and now have driven Bones to new levels of frustration. Pretty obvious what the problem is in Jets org.
