Hronek is probably overrated by Van fanbase and Van as an organization, not so much here. To me personally, this deal looks more like a text book deal by Holland.
And my strongest argument for this claim is his return. If we look further at the player, we can find that he and his colleague were both very highly ranked as a defensive pair in the middle of the season and his "nice" statistics have since decreased, although it certainly has for all the players in DRW today.
Hronek has great difficulty being a solid defender all over the 200tf ice, although many of us list him as a two-way defender. Hronek lacks all the qualities to be or become an Elite defender, you bought yourself a good defender and I think he will be one of your top 4 defenders once he is healthy again.
What is the ceiling for Hronek! I think you can already see it today as he had his best season already in DRW. Van as an organization and their fanbase needs to realize that he can't become something that doesn't exist, because if that was the fact, DRW wouldn't have gotten rid of him in the first place.
I personally don't get this deal from the Van side, as you are where you are and why give up a 1st pick for a player who is no better than what he is today. Okay, you buy in a 25-year-old who will soon have a new contract when he becomes an RFA. And you doing it during a coming draft year that most ppl say are deep, very strange in my opinion here.
I wanted two things from my GM before TDL and he accomplished both, as a DRW fan I can't be more than happy here.
