I say this knowing I’m a Bruins fan and we have Marchand who is a recovering POS. I’m not a fan, never have been. He’s done shit on the ice where I would have been happy if they ripped the spoked B off him. But Marchand is Mario Lemieux compared to this turd. Players like him are the result of fighting going away. I wish it would come back in many ways.

As a member of the Flyers, he has been referred to by the Philadelphia sports press as a player who “represents everything that the Flyers once were and should no longer aspire to be”, as well as “a cheap-shot aficionado, reckless, careless, damaging to the Flyers’ chances of winning and to other athletes’ health and safety, a player who can’t be trusted by either his teammates or his opponents to play a tough, clean game.”

The reason people keep making comparisons to the 19th century is actually not the beard, it’s the moustache that goes along with it! That beard and handlebar moustache combo was all the rage in the 1800s. He looks like [Leopold II](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopold_II_of_Belgium), or as some have mentioned, a US Civil War general.
