Should the Leafs trade Marner?

After TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston said he thinks Mitch Marner is the most likely member of the Leafs core four to be traded, TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron shares if he agrees or disagrees that Marner should be moved, and what he would be looking for in a William Nylander trade.

  1. Well the guy hasn't really produced much results. At least not for the money he's paid. Get rid of him. He's worth maybe only ⅓ of his pay.

  2. Sell high on nylander he has on year left before he ask for 10+ mil. If I had to make a deal I look at Noah Hanafin and a first and maybe a prospect.or another draft pick likely a third

  3. Trade Marner for a solid dman and a top pick. Spend money on grit and heart, aka passion, not on points and stats. He is way too soft esp. in playoffs.

  4. You need Marner he is your defensive specialist plays oddest of PK minutes you can’t replace that quality

  5. If they are stupid yes. No way of wining a trade unless you get Pastrnak in return. Let Matthews walk or take a major pay cut. Let JT contract expire and walk. Never trade Marner or Nylander build an angry nasty team around those two and use the money for Matthews and JT to load up with monsters. Learn to say no to being bullied all over the ice.

  6. Keep Marner
    Keep Nylander
    Keep Matthews

NO! Trade all of them right now while still under contract!
It will be a painful rebuild but at least you will acquire maximum draft choices and prospects that are the same age of Knies, Niemela etc.. instead of seeing these stiffs walk away for nothing next summer.
Ya know, you people (which people??!!)
You people! Are not going to fix this by only trading one of these softies and trying to retain the others. Dubas gave them all the power, they are attached at the hip. Us people need to understand that we need to deal them all or none of them.
It all comes back to you people
    (Omg which people???!!!)
    All people!

  7. Keep marner if you trade him you will watch him win a cup somewhere else just like kadri and bozak get rid of Tavares before the core young guys

  8. He makes silly passes all the time and turns over the puck. How many times have people complained about this after important game losses.

  9. Trade Mathew’s. He’s god awful in the playoffs. Mathew’s stock is high. Marner is the only reason Mathew’s had those goals. Marner is not the issue here

  10. No player is untradable if the return is right. If Toronto could swing something like Marner, Matthews, and a 1st to Edmonton for McDavid and Nurse (where Edmonton then flips Matthews and a middle six guy like Yamamoto, Foegle, or Janmark to Arizon for Keller, Schmaltz, and their 1st) they'd absolutely move on from half their core four. They haven't gotten it done, and they aren't out there offering to take a discount to cover for their post-season failings.

  11. If you watch the two remaining series there's NO WAY any of the players on the Leafs could play in those remaining series! NO WAY! the core needs to go! Everyone of them. It time to build a team with MEN on them not this ragtag bunch of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys!!

  12. Don’t think he’s the problem at all. Guys around him shutdown as well. If I was looking hard at anyone, it has to Matthews or Tavares. JY has a no move, but that doesn’t mean something couldn’t be presented to him. I’m sure his wife might like moving to LA. Some talk out there that Doughty for JT has been thrown around. Doughty can eat up those big minutes on the back end still for a couple years. Then you find some free agents out there and bring Knies in on forward next year. There’s a bunch of ways to do this and it doesn’t have to all involve Mariner. So much of the offender has to go through him. That’s too much pressure on one guy. The other guys have to make their own offence out there by banging and retrieving pucks. Unfortunately even though he’s looks like a power forward, Matthews doesn’t like being hit or getting dirty. That’s where your problems are. Like it or not, Matthews doesn’t get 60 goals without Mariner last year. Like Kyper has said all year, Mariner is the engine of this team. He grew up around Toronto and knows what it would mean to win here, but it can’t just be on him. Matthews has got to find that passion. The kind that Mcdavid has, they hate to lose

  13. The only reason Nylander is in the trade conversation is because he has the cheapest contract between him, Marner and Matthews. The difference is that he does show up in the playoffs. If he's traded, the Leafs won't get much back for him. due to how cheap his contract is. Nobody's giving up multiple pieces to get William Nylander. Trading Marner or Matthews would net the biggest return, like a top pairing d-man and maybe a more gritty-type forward that can score.
