  1. That definitely looks horrible and I’m stunned that he did something like that. Wtf you thinking Joe

  2. Roetorooter

Joey Fuckin Veleno, what is you doing?

That shit has no place in a hockey game, or anywhere else for that matter

  3. Wakattack00

I wish he played with this fire during the actual season. Not saying I want those plays ever to happen again, but clearly playing with an attitude. Gotta find that line though.

  4. laker9903

I honestly hope Steve talked to him after that, or at least sent him a disapproving GIF.

  5. dudewithchronicpain

Yzerman won’t be giving him a ride to camp

  6. vvildymediocre

He can leave now. I don’t ever want to see that shit.

  7. MonsieurAK

We all want hard players that may do some greasy stuff in the playoffs but not THAT Joe. Oof, sussy coming

  8. big_phat_gator

I would somewhat understand this type of emotion during a SC finals or something but a “meaningless” world championship is kinda strange.

  9. Dave_The_Party_Guy

Idk what the hell he was thinking, that’s one of the dirtiest cheap shots I’ve seen

  10. coltron57

Uhhh… Joe? What the fuck was that? That how you really injure someone and you’re pretty damn lucky Nino didn’t get any cuts from that.

This is so out of character for Veleno that it makes me wonder if there’s more to the story. It’s a slimy, greasy move from a guy who I’ve rarely seen slashing a player. I just don’t get this heel turn

  12. saltiestmanindaworld

Fuck that. WTF Veleno. Like thats a pack your bags type action.

  13. matt_minderbinder

I guess this means he’ll be back to eating chicken and rice while doing squats all summer.

  14. Ouch. that was a dirty play. JFV was pretty fired up. I’d be interested in seeing what NN did to him prior to the stomp.

edit: JFV paid for it with NN’s elbow to the face at the end of the clip. It dropped him to the ice.

Joe “Happy “I’m the first person to take my skate off and try to stab somebody” Gilmore” Veleno

Okay this looks awful, but for a non hockey player like myself is there anyyyy chance he was trying to bring his skate between the boards and ninos skate to get to the puck?

  17. Wow that was not good. Even with bias on his side I say he gets severely punished. Getting booted from the tournament?

  18. Jammer_Kenneth

Not cool. Dude needs to own up to fucking up big time and take a break

  19. No-Pass2391

Not f’ing cool, and not what I want to see happen while with the Wings

  20. Niederreiter had an interview in Swedish tv after the third period. Apparently JV tried to apologize after the game but Niederreiter were, understandably, not interested in hearing it. “Apologize for what? He already tried to break my ankle or whatever he wanted to do.” I’m paraphrasing, but that was the jist of it. I hope he gets suspended for the tournament, this shit doesn’t fly. I expect more from a Red Wing.

This is the difference between us and other teams. We have no problem calling our guys out instead of falling over backwards to rationalize what happened.

This does look bad but in Joe’s defense I think he may have been trying to get the angle on the board and get his leg and foot in front of NNs so he could kick the puck out. Maybe he thought there was enough room to get his leg in there or maybe it was malicious. Definitely out of character for him.

  23. nikilidstrom

Looks like he was trying to break his stick, but either way thats dangerous af.
