Let me know your expectations on the Sabres this off-season
Nice assessment
Sabers biggest problem is they need more Dman mostly on RD they also need to make space for Kulich and Savoie so I can't see them signing Okposo and Girgensons
As a Sabres fan I’m against trading a relative high draft picks for veterans. I believe the growth of our young players will be enough next season to reach the playoffs anyway. Having good young players is worth gold in NHL. If our GM feels he need a decent RHD he could probably find one in the FA. Even though Greenway was decent I wouldn’t give up a 2nd rounder for him. KA probably traded that 2nd rounder because he felt we could afford it.
The Sabres are oh so close and IMHO, they will be even better next season–of course, there are some issues, like the PK, and they definitely need to be better defensively, but the offense is there and if they can get better goaltending , the playoffs are a possibility.
Good video. That was an accurate assessment.
I can see them trading the 13th pick for a top 4 defensemen with a package. I feel like sabres don't need to draft another young player
Extend Dahlin, try to trade for Marner. Then work the league for a top 4 defense man. Somewhere there is a guy who is a cap concern. Kulich is going to be a Sabre regular next year. This team is so ready for the next step. Their home record held them back.
The biggest needs are without a doubt finding a goalie to pair with Levi and improving the Defense. Right now the Sabres are interested In Hellenbyuck to be a short term answer in net. If the Sabres can make it happen and bring him in, there not only making the playoffs next season but they’ll be in the Conference Finals.
buffalo and new jersey fun to watch and ottawa. great to see
Girgensons.
Okposo.
Hinostroza…no really, look him up.
$9.9 mil in cap from expendable guys.
Ox is a swell guy, locker room leader blahblahblah. Hopelessly slowed down at this age and not fit for playoff work.
Give him the Participation trophy/lifetime achievement award and send him out the door. Girgs as well.
Add Victor Olofsson at 4.7 mil. and we have 13-14 mil PLUS the 17 mil in cap space already.
Sign Dahlin, trade for a Dman to be Power's adult supervision ( Zadorov, or Mayfield among others.)
Z and Ox are anachronisms from the past, too slow for the playoffs Im watching. Wave goodbye to them.
Next year is coming. Not 3 years away. Now.
after Dahlin, Owen Power and Sammy our Dmen are a bunch of guys named Joe.
Clague, Bryson, Stillman,Jokiharju and Lybushkin are right out of the junk drawer of hockey.
We needed a Luke Schenn , RHD, age 35 under $1 mil…put him next to Power for 2 years riding shotgun. We get Stillman, yaaawwwwwn. Doesnt move the needle at all.
I like ex Sabre Nikita Zadorov. With the vast $ we save with the above departures, nearly $30 mil in cap space we can sign everybody we need.
My Buffalo Sabres are loaded with young talent and it bodes well for the future.
Sabres need right shot D man to play with Owen Power, a guy like Will Borgen.
A full year of Levi will improve this team immensely. The Sabres need a couple of D-men that aren’t a liability in their own zone. Replacing Jokiharju and Bryson with stay at home defensemen will do wonders for this team. A cheap veteran goalie to mentor Levi would be nice as well.
I feel like Dahlin gonna go from 6mill to 9+mill or maybe even 10?
