“And just seeing [Mitch], when you get to the rink every day and he’s been there for three hours and he is knee-deep in his film study, he has already got in a workout, he has 14 sheets of preparation for that day posted on the wall, a quote for the day, a game-plan for the practice with exact detail, broken down into who we’re playing, who is in what role … When you see that, I think you’re like, ‘Jeez, there is really no excuse here for me not to bring the same level that he is.’ ”

I also liked:
> “I think that gives him the background and bedrock to be a great pro coach because I think the pro game is getting more and more like the junior game, in terms of how you have to treat people,” Priestner said. “You can’t have that approach of, ‘It’s my way or the highway’ and ‘Listen to me or you’re screwed.’ I don’t think that way is working anymore in the NHL, and that’s where I think Mitch’s experience really comes in handy.
and
> “I expect a lot out of people,” [Love] said before this series started. “I think I’m demanding in the sense that it’s my job to push athletes to be better and come out of their comfort shell, in terms of what their game is and where it could grow. I like to motivate people. I like to motivate teams. I like to motivate individuals, challenge individuals. I think there’s a certain way you have to go about that nowadays, for sure, maybe a little more closed-door, behind-the-scenes, one-on-one.
Not sure I agree with the takeaway from that quote OP included in the post.
Personally, I feel like I could come up with a whole barrel of excuses for not bringing that same level of energy.
I really like everything I’ve seen and heard of him, I strongly believe he should be the next HC
You might be shocked how many professional coaches have that exact work ethic
I think Mitch Love is a future NHL head coach, but I would actually prefer him to spend a year or two as an assistant coach before promoting him. When looking for a new head coach the Flames should also be considering him to mentor Mitch Love.
