Brayden Point Signs 3 Year Deal with Lightning

The cap hit is 6.75 million a year. Yes, that is a great deal for Tampa.

  1. As a Bolts fan, couldn't be happier about this deal. Absolute steal for 3 years, plenty of time to win a stanley cup with this core.

  2. TSN already doing videos where they talk about Point for 15seconds before going on about Marner and their disappointment for 10+mins

  3. At this rate Laine will be the only RFA soon, as I'm sure Conner will sign before he does. Great content as always Shannon. Oh, and since Point is more consistent, Laine should get equal or less AAV for a 3 year contract as well IMO.

  4. Marner
    Mathews
    Stamkos
    Overpaid
    Point
Underpaid but i get it, just glad they got a deal done because hes going to replace stamkos one day

  5. I’m a Tampa fan and wow am I happy with this 😂. In fact, I almost feel bad for Point considering what Marner is being paid. Everyday of the week I’d take Point over Marner. Stats and play don’t lie

  6. If I'm a high profile RFA and my GM tells me to take 6M because Point only took 6.5M I'm gonna tell him to go pound salt

  7. This is terrible, but…

I guess Tampa played a trump card by pointing to Braden's point totals from 2019 playoffs!

  8. Good, higher player salaries ultimately mean higher ticket prices for everyone no matter the team doing the signing. Glad to see another reasonable contract.

  9. Called a 3yr $6.1 AAV, and got shredded by casuals.

Funny how people laugh at these predictions, when this is literally how they’ve handled things for YEARS of keeping their stars.

Why is this a surprise every time Tampa pulls this off lol. Just stop

  10. The leafs will never win the cup and its cause their players play for themselves and not the team

  11. Take notes Dubas. That’s another contract for elite players that’s not ridiculous. For example, Mcvoy, werenski, spurgeon, Keller, Chabot etc. Just sayin.

  12. Toronto is hit with 47% taxes compared to 31% taxes in Florida, huge difference, marner takes home 5.7717 million per year on a 10.89m/yr contract/cap hit. If marner signed in Florida in order to take that same 5.7717 million per year would only need to take a cap hit of
8.2855m/yr. The difference between 10.89 and 8.2855 is 2.6045 million dollars more that the maple leafs have to sacrifice in their cap compared to Florida. It Makes a Huge difference and is y Canadian teams tend to suck because they have to sign players to higher cap hit deals in order for that player to take home same money they would get elsewhere. So Florida with a 81.5 cap hit has 56.235 million of player take home money to give in contracts while Toronto has 43.195 million to give players as take home money, that’s 13 million dollars in less take home money Toronto has to deal with that Tampa doesn’t

  13. Man you really should do a podcast, I think the market is wide open for it and everyone loves your hockey talk.

  14. Say what you want about state taxes but why aren't other teams that have the same benefit as good as a this team contract wise. (Florida Panthers as an example)
