Good lol. Why help out other teams before the draft

With what’s happened and the contracts up this year… We’re doing them a favour

Fair payback for the Iggy trade, which had a terrible return and didn’t get him the Cup he deserved.

I get it, dont let Tre work his magic for another team… but bad look on the Flames IMO. Like a bitter ex GF

Considering we’re trying to speak to potential GMs, AGMs (if we promote from within) and will be speaking to potential coaches, this feels like a short sighted move that doesn’t look great…
Unless they are trying to convince Tre to reconsider with Sutter being gone?
Every-Citron1998
Fair enough. If they fired Tre this would feel vindictive but since he quit he can wait until the contact ends.

Yes, we’ll take Crosby for that permission
SpecialOutcome2706
Nasty.

The Flames need some good PR right now. This isn’t it

The NHL no longer permits compensation for signing a former executive still under contract but this move by the Flames is just spiteful. I doubt this was initiated by Maloney or Conroy, but it does smack of Murray Edwards.

Posts like these are the ones that seperate the fans who think they know how professional sports front offices operate and the ones that actually know how are run.

I see both sides of the argument here, but like Tre chose to leave on his own. Murray may be petty but he has the right to keep Tre from going to another organization. Especially with the draft and FA coming up.

This makes an organization look incredibly bad. Why does everything this team does have to be embarrassing?

The dude knows our whole draft strategy. Tre is well known for being very close to his scouts and gathering tons of intel. To let another team have that intel when Tre is still under contract is straight up stupid and no other franchise would do it. It’s idiotic to think this is a “bad look” for the flames.

Brad holds the Flames draft knowledge and scouting information for the upcoming draft that could be invaluable to other teams. He is still under contract with the Flames hence why permission was required. Permission was denied. I see nothing wrong with this.
