The kid line needs more game minutes on their line to be productive. Lafreniere can be productive, he is fast and if the coaches would just make up their minds what line to put him in and i believe he can score if they stop jumping him around.
If they're not moving him out then move him down…seriously This team can still be salvaged IF you bump Kreider down to the 3rd with Vinny Tro bring bumped down too if possible and make a seriously great 3rd line that can do it all sorta. I'd move chytil over to right wing on that line too Bump kakko upto 2nd line Hopefully Drury can find a true 2nd line. Center in a trade or signing

You are correct. I have been saying this for a long time that the kids are not getting enough ice time, of course they’re not gonna produce. Hopefully the next Ranger coach will give these kids a chance. It’s a shame how this organization throughout the years have either traded their draft picks or push them to the backseat. Maybe Laffy we’ll get lucky and get traded to a team where he will be a superstar which we know he is going to be one day.
You don't even need to break down the stats to see that Kreider isn't very good 5-on-5. He doesn't push play, doesn't use his speed getting up the ice, and doesn't win a lot of battles down low. A lot of the times, he'll get the puck in the neutral zone and just stop, reminds me a lot like Brandon Dubinsky. With the puck, Kreider's below average compared to the rest of the league. Even on the power play, if he touches the puck on zone entry, it's most likely getting dumped back down. He just tries to play a game he's not capable of playing which is why he's goes through stretches where he's completely unnoticeable. That said, he's one of the best net front guys when he wants to be but, other than that, he should be on the 2nd or 3rd line 5-on-5 but still be on PP1.
Laffy, it's all confidence with him. With the kids in general, the issue with their development was whenever they got the opportunity to play with the top guys, they felt like they had to defer the play to them and would be immediately punished when they made a mistake, even though Panarin could turn the puck over 100 times a game and face 0 consequences. So, the best option was to put the kids together on the 3rd line, but my main concern was that they all played the same game. The kids were all trying to score and, like you pointed out, that would cause too much collision amongst themselves at times because there were no defined roles. And despite that, they were still able to make some amazing plays.
I don't think that You were, in any way, Dogging On Kreider. I don't think that you Need To Make Many Changes, but for the Ones I Suggested (Trouba Waiving/Getting Rid Of The Captain After The Coach, etc.), I think that They're Still Close To A Stanley Cup.
I think what’s scary to me is that the Rangers will bring in a Laviolette type who does the same shit AV and Gellant did where they just overlook organizational needs and instead just trusting the veterans AGAIN. Back to back years where the big boys were given the reigns and failed, last year they stepped up vs Pit and Carolina but both had sub par Goaltending. Will Drury and other management finally give the kids more playing time?? You have to! You have to try something else. Kid Line was silent vs the Devils but I think that’s also because all 3 of them hated playing for Gallant. Give Kakko, Fil, and Laf the keys to the kingdom and keep laf as 1st line RW as least to start next year there’s zero reason not to.
I LOVE chris Kreider as a player and a voice on this team but it’s absolutely true what you said, he is 100% taking away valuable ice time. Mika can get the ice time since we know he CAN be a proven force of nature as a legit top 1C. Chris is a PP specialist who has no answer to structured defense and adversity.
I think Lafreniere’s biggest issue is his foot speed, guy generally plays a complete game. He should train with Kreider and then hopefully take his spot. If this team wins a cup it’ll be Igor Mika Kakko Fox and Laf, might as well do that
Spot on! Every time Kreider touched the puck 5 on 5 this year, I knew it would be a turnover. Take him off special teams, and he is a 4th line player at best. Unfortunately, he is over utilized. And probably will be again next season. Rangers will never win a cup until they have 6'4 200 plus pound grinders. He never wins battles and is a detrement to our chances. Don't get the fan lovefest? I’ve been saying this even the whole year that kreider was scoring every game! 90 percent of his production comes on the pp so my thought is put laf on the second line give him more time and u can keep kreider on the pp that way u get the most of everyone

After reading the comments it seems like I'm the only one who sees things the way they are, not the way I wish them to be. Remember all the hoopla for Jimmy Vesey? He turned out to be a bust with what was expected from him. He, Lafreniere, and Kakko were great players when they played amongst boys. Now they are playing against men and their weaknesses are plain to see. Watching them play I see no 'magic' in their game. Just compere them to Jack Hughes and you will see what I mean. I predict both players will end up as disappointments, just like Vesey.
Id rather have Kreider than Laf. Laf is a manchild. Watch how he handles his stick after whistles. Over the shoulder flopping it around. Thats not someone who is putting everything into his play. Id also rather have Kreider than Panarin. His style of play is great for the regular season but he is pathetic in the post season. At least Kreider gets on the board. Bread is lazy until he gets the puck. Kreider has a lot of deficiencies but ill take him over those two.
I agree with this. What about just moving the kid line to the first line so they all have the time they should be having. Panarin,Mika and kreider on the second line. Othman,trochek and ?. Vesey and motte (if he resigned somehow) would be on the fourth line. Just my thoughts after this video.
Lafreniere is not better than Chris Kreider but Kreider is 32 and makes $6.5 million a year for four more years and he's a 3/4 of a point a game player right now. Lafreniere is 21 , a half point a game player and an RFA. Kreider is only going to get worse, Lafreniere can still get better. If you can trade kreider for assets you should.
Your're stats are wrong – Kreider had 26 PP goals in 2021-2022 – Thats 19 5X5 for Laffy with less than 16 minutes of playing time and only 26 5×5 for Kreider. Laffy is getting the wrong end of the stick. Has not had averaged 16 minutes in a seaon yet. How is he ever going to reach his potential when guys like Stuzle average over 21 minutes. Even Dawson Mercer get more ice time! Its great they got rid of Gallant. He had no plan for him and prefered playing his veterans no matter how bad they were. He should have been fired the day after he scratched him.
According to Natural Stat Trick Kreider scores 1.14 goals/60min at 5v5 and 1.69 points/60 min while Lafreniere has 0.66 G/60 and 1.61 P/60. Kreider will out-produce Lafreniere given equal 5v5 time full stop. 5on4 PP Kreider puts up 3.72 P/60 while Lafreniere only produces 2.18 P/60. Goal rates at 5on4 are almost identical. Even looking at relative stats for GF/60 or xGF/60 Lafreniere is lightyears behind and is dead weight to his linemates. GF/60: Kreider ranks 3rd on the team at +10.76, Chytil ranks 8th at +4.23, Kakko ranks 11th at +1.76, and Lafreniere is all the way down at 17th (behind Sammy Blais who didn't even score as a Ranger) with -2.03 GF/60. Yes Kreider is overrated but Lafreniere is not only not better than Kreider he is just not a very good hockey player at the NHL level so far.
The biggest issue was in the 20-21 season he should have been slotted on the 3rd line to allow the 1st overall pick the time to grow. His own production screwed up the ballance of the team if you think about it. Realistically, youre not going to reduce a 50 goal scorers ice time so what are we left with? A bad contract for a player who had a career year 2 years later. Moving Kreider makes sense as a sell too early vs too late but these numbers arent a secret. Everyone else knows this and 1. Whos taking him at A. That price and B. What else do you need to include to get a team to take the entire contract….and 2. He has a full NMC.
Not a bad analysis. Lefreniere worth more minutes would definitely equal more points but not on the kid line. Management has to give him and Kakko the shot to play up on lines 1 and 2. If you put Lefreniere on the 1st line RW with Zman and Kreider I can see him as a close to 30 goal player. The time is now to give the kids a shot on the top lines. I still think Panarin has to go and the rangers should eat half his contract to make it happen.

Krieder is Teriable 5 on 5. He can't carry the puck, and doesn't forecheck.
