If they had called it as the whistle was blown before the puck crossed I would understand. Early whistle but the ref goes with what they see. However, declaring no goal because it was "covered"?!?!?! 2021 clown show refs anyone? What a mockery. I know it is semantics but wording matters.

no goal. good call. cant spear the goalies pad to get the puck loose then poke it in. puck was covered even though sammy didnt know where it was. good call.
EDIT: After watching several times I'm doubling down on it being no goal. I think even though the puck is loose you can't spear the goalie to make the puck even looser. So can't have two good pokes at it. ALSO the intention of the ref blowing the whistle might have been when it was caught up in his equipment and hadnt seen it drop yet. IDK but looking forward to a possible statement from the league
Refs loose sight of puck they blow it dead. It’s simple. When a call doesn’t go your way you keep your composure and move on, it’s only game 3.
In 2013 Chicago had the series winning goal called back against Detroit on an absolutely garbage display of officiating. They moved on and took care of business in OT.
